Do you use your fabric scissors ONLY for fabric? ✂️🧵

The answer better be… YESSSS! 😂

One of the first rules of your sewing journey: protect the fabric scissors! 🙌

Cutting paper and other materials can dull the blades, which means they won’t cut your beautiful fabric as cleanly or smoothly.

So yes… every sewist needs THE fabric scissors.
And everyone in the house needs to know: DO. NOT. TOUCH. THEM. 😂✋✂️

Today isn’t about sewing. 🧵❤️

When I was 25, I broke my spine and spent almost a year struggling to walk normally. Today, I ran my leg of the Akron Marathon relay.

Somewhere between the crazy hills, the signs telling me to keep going, my friends, and seeing my family near the finish, I realized how much this journey reminds me of building Sew + Reimagine.

Dreams take time. There are obstacles. Sometimes you question yourself. But you keep moving forward.

Today I’m grateful for my health, my family, my friends, this Akron community that has welcomed me, and the opportunity to live a dream I carried for so long.

And yes… I carried my sewing studio flyer the whole way. 😂🧵

Whatever your dream is, keep going. One step—or one stitch—at a time. 💕

Apparently my fabric collection needed its own library. 😂📚

I’ve been trying to organize all the beautiful chaos in the studio, and I found this idea: comic book boards + fabric = little fabric books! 🤯✨

Fold it. Wrap it. Stack it. And suddenly I can actually SEE what fabric I have. 🙌

Will this stop me from buying more fabric?
Absolutely not. 😂

But at least now it will look cute and organized on my shelves. 💕🧵

Come sew something magical with us this October! In this beginner-friendly, step-by-step workshop, you’ll create your own one-of-a-kind witch hat—from choosing your fabric to sewing and shaping your finished hat. No experience needed at all. We will guide you every step of the way!

We have separate workshops for kids and adults, with only 8 makers per class and two instructors there to help.

This is what makes me happy. 🥹💕🧵

My student already knew how to sew and had a beautiful sewing space at home (and quite the fabric stash! 😂), but commercial patterns felt overwhelming.

She wanted to challenge herself, so we found a pattern she loved, pulled fabrics from her own stash, and started working through it together.

She learned how to read the pattern, cut her pieces, serge, sew, make adjustments, and—most importantly—be patient with herself and trust the process.

And look what she made!! 😍👏 A beautiful patchwork dress WITH pockets!

But my favorite part isn’t only the finished dress. It’s watching her confidence grow. It’s the conversations while we sew, hearing about her life and her family, laughing together, and watching a student become a friend. 💕

This is what Sew + Reimagine is about for me: sewing, confidence, friendship and community.
