As someone who has been in business for 5 years now, though it is rare, I have found myself having to hold customers, other businesses and now an entire platform accountable for their actions.
For those of you who have no idea what is, it started off as an app created by a Bay Area local with an emphasis on community, small businesses, solo entrepreneurs, with a commitment to being open, inclusive and fair and support those who bring value and care. (Much of this description is taken directly from their website).
I was offered the opportunity to become an Exclusive Seller in late 2024 and agreed because at the time I was receiving phenomenal help from someone who is now a former employee.
With the launch of their “Foundation Program” in January of this year, a new program marketed to invest in tenured sellers was released and I ecstatically reached out to learn more and before I knew it found myself suddenly being met with confused messages, lack of responses and failure to realize I was a tenured seller looking for basic help but being treated like I was just another number looking to apply.
After sharing screenshots of my interactions, other sellers have reached out expressing their disappointment and acknowledging that not all sellers were receiving the same individualized help and care.
The platform as an entity was able to share my story of closing my brick and mortar, becoming a new mom and transitioning my business to be fully online through the help of the app and then suddenly allowed our account to get lost and get pushed so far back on the burner, no one working for Palm Street even realized I was an exclusive seller and an established account that had generated over $100k in gross sales in the span of 10 months.
With all that said, many of you who have followed this account for some time know and understand that at the end of the day, I am not just a business entity but a whole ass human being who has poured my entire heart into this. It is the reason why I will not sell to or associate with people who are disrespectful and entitled and at this time why I can no longer continue business with Palm Street.
