Been a while. As all is beginning to come back around, it’s time to reach out to all of you!

Memorial Day is a time to thank and remember all those who have served to ensure our freedom. My Dad, S. Charles DeMatteo, served in the Army & was a member of the notorious Merrill’s Marauders. He served in the 5307th Composite Unit in Burma. Check out the history at http://www.marauder.org/history.html.

Many thanks to all who have served!

Some sad news. A dear friend of Trumpet Hill, Susan Cooper, a business partner of A Touch of Twist, died tragically recently. Our thoughts & prayers are sent to Steve Ableman during these very difficult time. ❤️

So...what have you created during this year? What projects are you working on now? We all can use inspiration!

Mine are in a pile to be blocked and ends woven in. I’m enjoying the Mitred Square throw I’m creating from leftover fi*****ng or sock yarns. It’s another addiction Pat Cumiskey threw out there! Remember the saying “Sock knitting is addictive”? It’s great fun. Just finished 3 commissioned Christmas Stockings. More to share and will post when blocked.

Look forward to hearing from you. Truly am.

Hi everyone!

Great to hear from you! As our Stay At Home is extended, you are probably completing UFO’s with this found time. Perhaps you decided to start something new! Let’s share what we are up to & inspire each other. We are very good at that, right? So...post pictures or tell us what you are working on!

Just another mention...we still meet as the Trumpet Hill Book Club! If you are looking for
a book to read try: “A Giver of Stars” by Jojo Moyes or “Resistance Women” by Jennifer Chiaverini. They were our last two selections. Enjoy!

Look forward to hearing from you! Love staying in touch.

Fiber Friends...

Hope this finds each and every one of you and your families healthy and safe. Wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers during these stressful, anxious and unprecedented times.

Thanks to all of our medical and health facilities staff for all you are doing to save lives. Let's not forget our workers in grocery stores, pharmacies, truckers and all other essential services making it possible for us to get what we need during this time. Thanks is not enough. We know.

I'm making good use of my time in self-quarantine (sent home from work) on day 10. Not sure the next step yet. Cleaning out and organizing has been happening here, including my yarn stash! Been doing this little by little and am now in the final stage. Yay!

Knitting...and other fiber crafts...as we know, has always been a stress reliever. So grateful to have compassion for the craft...and others...to be my calm during this time. I hope you are experiencing the same. Have chosen a few projects for Christmas gifts and have begun knitting to be ahead of where I found myself last year.

Take some of this time to revisit UFO's. Pick one and you will be thrilled to have finished it. As you may know, I am doing finishing work and knitting orders and am just about caught up on all. If there is something sitting on the bottom of your pile, you are frustrated with or stuck on or even have seconditis (like a second sock, mitten) I can finish that for you at a reasonable price (quoted before we continue, of course!).
Think about it. Private lessons will be available again once we see the direction we need to take. Send me a message through Messenger anytime.

Thanks for all of your support throughout the years. I so miss the shop! Remember to shop your local yarn shops so they will be there for us. Purchase a gift card for beautiful yarns or even future classes. A gift you certainly deserve after all this and will support the shops.

Here's to all the RAINBOWS! Reach out to one another. 🌈 ❤️

Robena

Good afternoon everyone...I am posting on this site today because I know a number of you had Patty Johnston as a knitting instructor.

It's with great sadness I share that Patty's husband, Steve, passed away suddenly.

The family is having a Celebration of Life TOMORROW, the 18th, at 11:00AM at the Italian American Community Center on Washington Avenue Ext. Everyone is welcome.

We need to live in celebration each and every day. Love, Robena

CHRISTMAS IN JULY... Winter Wonderland is off the needles! Many thanks to Iryth Ferrandino for mentoring our KAL at the shop. I decided to focus on knitting just this to finish it. Would love to hear from others to see how their project is going.

Many thanks to all of you for your kind words and prayers for my dear friend, Joan Benson and her loving family.

Your comments and such brought back great memories of all of you. Would love to hear what you are up to and what projects you've been working on. I am working Monday-Friday (part-time) which keeps me on a schedule. That I have come to realize is a good thing! I have recently finished a couple of Melanie Berg shawls, am working on a Wheaten throw by Anne Hanson of Knitspot and a Summer Wrap in a cotton blend Schaefer yarn...remember them?

Look forward to catching up!

I know it's been a while since a post appeared. I have a tribute to a beautiful soul that needs to be shared with you.

My dear friend, Joan Benson, passed away on Friday. You may not have had the good fortune of personally knowing her, yet she touched each and every one of you who entered Trumpet Hill. Joan's amazing hand-painted trumpet vines graced the wall at Trumpet Hill adding such lovely ambiance to the shop.

While painting, gardening and helping others were some of Joan's passions, you must know she was a knitter, too! Her warm smile, her laughter, compassion, kindness and loving heart will forever be missed. If you choose, offer thought and prayers to Joan's loving husband, Charlie and their treasured son, Josh as well as their extended family.

Hoping all is well with you. I am forever blessed to have met each and every one of you.
Knitterhugs,
Robena
