As we’ve been touring homes and open houses lately, one thing has really stood out to me as someone in the flooring industry:

A lot of flip homes are using very cheap SPC vinyl plank flooring with very little floor prep underneath. It may look beautiful during a showing, but uneven subfloors, movement, hollow spots, and joint failure often show up later after the home is lived in.

What many buyers don’t realize is this:
Once you purchase the home, the flooring problem usually becomes YOUR responsibility — not the installer, not the flooring store, and not always the flipper.

Most manufacturer warranties get denied if proper prep work wasn’t done in the first place.

Floor prep isn’t the glamorous part of flooring, but it’s the part that determines whether the floor lasts for years or starts failing shortly after move-in.

A pretty floor means nothing if the work underneath it was rushed.
