It’s been a long time since I’ve posted or even done anything Stabley Stitches wise. But I am still here, and took a break to work on this project and now want to share with you this beautiful quilt that I have made. For those of you that don’t know, I’m an event coordinator for a local association. Last night, we had our biggest event of the year, our Charity Gala, benefiting the NM Veterans Integration Center. They basically help home homeless veterans. They do a lot more than just that, but that’s an easy way to explain. I have a lot of military in my family and friends, so I have the highest respect for the people that serve our country. This quilted flag is made entirely out of military blouses, old and new, from Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy. I have SO many hours into this quilt over the last 8 weeks. So many frustrations, from cutting and deconstructing uniforms to paper piecing to even hand sewing parts of this, and now it’s finally over. Last night, it was the MAIN auction item at our event, which originally wasn’t the plan. I’m completely honored to say that the highest bid was $3500 and the person that is receiving it is excited to have this 7 foot long flag hanging proudly in their office for everyone to see. I cannot tell you the emotions I have, I’m beyond proud I can do something so amazing to raise money for an amazing cause. Thank you everyone!
