Welcome Spring! 🌷

The beauty of the blossoming trees and the sound of chirping birds puts a smile on my face and brings me joy. Another beginning to a new season.

I, too, am experiencing a new beginning. As I pack and joyfully anticipate my move to Scottsdale, Arizona, my thoughts bring me to my 27 wonderful years in Albuquerque and fulfilling my passion for decorating and design.

Collaborating with my clients has brought me immense satisfaction and has given me joy beyond words.

In June, I will be moving to an amazing resort community. As someone said to me, "It'll be like being on a cruise ship every day", and for those who know me - I LOVE cruising! I'm excited, and looking forward to all that I will experience in my "new" life.

Having happy clients has always been my goal! Wishing you good health and a joyful life.

Bye for now,
Sandy

*POWDER ROOM - Small Room - Big Design

Our clients Cheryl and Al moved to New Mexico from Michigan. Their newly built house was pristine but lacked charm they craved from their home town. This guest powder room was a perfect opportunity to infuse style and character to the space.

While the utilities were all in working order, we added and replaced decorative elements to totally transform this space. We collaborated with the client on color, style and 'the feel' she envisioned. Since wallpaper has exploded in popularity, it became our inspiration for the design. Pairing a beautiful floral print from Schumacher, framed with painted architectural trim (Sherwin Williams Outerspace), the walls began to sing!

We swapped out a mirror and Mitzi vanity sconce to complement the existing plumbing fixtures.

After a few small finishing touches with accessories, the outcome was a compact space that packs a punch!

Thank you following our work -- wishing you a cozy, beautiful winter. ❄

🍁 Welcome Fall 🍁 ...and new Albuquerque residents!

We are so delighted to welcome our clients, who recently relocated from San Francisco, and transitioned to life in Albuquerque. They found a home which they knew had a lot of potential, however, it needed a significant amount of updating to become their forever home.

Our clients brought with them their lovely furnishings and outstanding art and accessories, which hold wonderful memories and were acquired over many years of travel.

We're delighted to have played a part in creating a new life in Albuquerque and sharing their new home with you. (The before photos are from the Zillow listing).

*OUT! OUT! BORING BATHROOMS

The guest bathroom was another small 'ho-hum' room. The tub was removed making way for a shower which would comfortably suit their many guests. A natural wood wall hung vanity, white textured wave tile and a large lighted mirror expanded the room. The tile floor, the back wall of the shower as well as one wall is charcoal gray. Three fun modern Japanese frogs by Matsumoto Hoji, selected by the client, popped on the charcoal wall. No, the bathroom doesn't look small - it looks special!

*OUT! OUT! BORING BATHROOMS

Who says bathrooms are boring?! Not us! The powder room is small and narrow. An open console sink with brass legs is one of the stars of the room. Using the open console allowed the room to 'breathe'. The extraordinary and colorful wallpaper mural which depicts gardens of Jaipur is an outstanding addition to the room. The shapes of the mirror and tile flooring 'speak' to the theme. The sconces, mirror and plumbing fixtures in brushed gold add to the elegant powder room.

*AN ENTERTAINING AREA

The clients love to entertain, however, there was no interest in keeping the open bar area on the right side. When we discovered there was plumbing in that area, it was decided to bring the plumbing around the wall and design a full wall entertainment area. The cabinetry has a sink, a wine refrigerator and houses their collection of spirits. The upper cabinets were designed to accommodate and feature their outstanding crystal glasses. The large TV was a must have in the living room and the perfect spot to place it.

Our next step was to enclose the area where the open bar was located. Now there is a pantry to store many items relating to cooking and entertaining. A win-win!

*CLASSIC AND TIMELESS

The living room was updated by painting the stone fireplace in charcoal gray and the cabinetry in white. To further enhance the living room, shutters and LVP flooring - which was added throughout their home except for carpeting in the bedrooms - were installed. What brought it 'over the top' are the beautiful area rugs, furnishings and accessories from their home in San Francisco.

*A DREAM KITCHEN

Both love to cook and the ease of preparing meals for themselves, family and friends in a 'chefs' kitchen was a primary concern. The renovation included top-of-the-line Miele appliances. The mixture of white and dark wood cabinetry enhanced the kitchen; the dark wood was carried over to the island. The area where the refrigerator was previously located now has a floor to ceiling cabinet that houses a rarely used microwave, small appliances and a display of dinnerware.

*TAKING IT APART - PUTTING IT TOGETHER

Would you believe????

Removing the vanity on the left as well as the 'water closet' walls and the 3' shower, the small master bath was significantly opened - the square footage was not changed. A large shower with an element that allows the shower to become a steam shower was created. The shower is curb free - the use of smaller 2" x 2" tiles to match the 12" x 24" floor tiles opens and brightens the bathroom. The existing frosted windows were replaced with reeded glass, which obscures the outside but still brings in light. A geometric black and gold tile, placed on the entire back wall, is further enhanced with the use of black and gold shower plumbing fixtures.

**CREATING 'MAGIC' - FROM A CLOSET TO...

The small closet, located on the other side of the room, was eliminated to allow room for a significantly sized vanity replacing the small single bowl vanity. The counter has a 4" waterfall edge and a 9" high backsplash. Having mirrors with integrated lights negated the need for vanity lights.

*A SOUTHWESTERN OASIS

Bryan requested that his bathroom reflect the Southwest in a sophisticated way. This is how we went about fulfilling his wishes...

A large multi-functional shower replaced the unused tub. The area where the shower had previously been now has a custom designed Southwestern influenced cabinet for storage. Turquoise tiles were strategically located to enhance but not overwhelm the bathroom, including the placement of 12" long vertical strips in the shower. Terracotta porcelain tile brought in the Southwest vibe. The enclosed 'water closet' was eliminated - a pony wall was created to open the space and still retain privacy. The window that was in the closed water closet now brings light into the room and is enhanced with a custom designed faux metal screen, which can be opened.

Another view of the bathroom shows the open area where the commode is located. The updated painted door, which has a softer look, further enhanced the bathroom.

To bring in a little 'fun', mirrors were created with an unusual chipped edge finish; the bronze vanity lights are etched with animal petroglyphs.
