I had a little fan-girl moment at Rhubarb Fest when I Spotted Andrew Stutzke one of WQAD's Meteorologists!
When I was younger, i wanted to be a meteorologist/storm chaser. I've always been fascinated by storms, weather, and severe weather tracking. If you've been to the shop on a weekday, you know that news it on..lol

While that career path didn't quite happen, I did become a certified National Weather Service storm spotter, which lets me keep my weather nerd status intact. 😂

So when I saw Andrew, I had to introduce myself and spend a few minutes talking weather. If you've ever met a meteorologist, you know that's probably the most Predictable conversation possible. 🌩️☁️🌪️

Well… I did make this shirt with rhubarb leaves. 🌿

The plan was to have a whole collection ready for Rhubarb Fest. The reality? Rhubarb Fest happened, customers happened, the shop happened, and suddenly there were not enough hours in the day.
This one was made by reverse dyeing real rhubarb leaves onto a shirt, and the next step will be dyeing them green after the bleaching process. Right now they're rocking their spooky botanical look, and honestly, I'm kind of into it.
So no, I don't have more available yet... but consider this your warning that there are definitely more in the works when I can finally come up for air. 😅
Taylor is doing a great job hustling Rhubarb Fest with the best of us and doing a great job modeling our future Odd Bettie's Rhubarb T-shirt designs!
Would anyone be interested in an Odd Bettie's rhubarb leaf shirt once I get a batch finished? 🍃💚

Well... that was unexpected!
Today, for the first time ever, Mike Wolfe from American Pickers stopped by Odd Bettie's!
Out of all the places he could've been, he ended up right here in our little corner of Aledo during Rhubarb Fest weekend. We got to chat, snap a photo, and show off some of the treasures that make Odd Bettie's what it is.
So if you stopped in today, you never know who you might've been shopping alongside.
Rhubarb Fest continues tomorrow, and we're packed full of vintage, antiques, oddities, and all the things you didn't know you needed.

I'm not saying fame has changed me, but I will have headshots available for autographs and photos.*

Welp... remember when I said I was going to make posts showing all the cool stuff we've been putting out for Rhubarb Fest?
Yeah. About that.

Instead, we've been working nonstop, moving furniture, filling shelves, pricing, rearranging, hauling, decorating, and generally turning Odd Bettie's into the kind of place where you come in for "just a quick look" and leave an hour later carrying a lamp, a cookbook, and something you can't quite explain to your spouse.
The shop is PACKED.
Vintage glassware, books, oddities, collectibles, jewelry, kitchenware, records, local treasures, bones, lunchboxes, décor, and plenty of things you didn't know existed until now.
Huge Shout out to everyone who has been helping!
