This Capitol Hill home had great bones but had some 2002 builder grade relics (Brazilian cherry, columns, inconsistent moldings). We designed custom built-ins (more storage is always a good idea), added texture and layered in color and art to transform the space into a modern retreat for a busy family.

Full-service interior design was the key for our busy clients - transplants from California - in making their new Virginia home a relaxed family space.

Here’s another peek at our “I gotta peaceful neutral feeling” project. The chairs in a deep green velvet add rich color and echo the trees just outside the windows. The rug is the perfect foil to the solids and neutrals - the ochre, chocolate and cream is accented with a soft blue that quietly picks up the tones in the landscape art.

More importantly, there’s plenty of comfortable lounge space for this lovely family to gather.

Proof that neutral is never boring.

I’ll always love color and pattern, but there’s something undeniably refined about a beautifully layered monochromatic space. When the palette is quiet, texture becomes the statement. From the beaded chandelier and woven rug to the limewash wallpaper that brings depth and movement.

A sophisticated lounge designed for conversation, connection and lingering a little longer.

Yes, the wallpaper steals the show… but it’s the layered details that make this kitchen feel special. Each one adds character, function, and a touch of luxury.

1️⃣ Bistro Shelves & Entertaining Nook
Where upper cabinets weren’t possible, we introduced airy bistro shelves beside the window. Anchored by a wine fridge and ice maker, this corner became the ultimate hosting station.

2️⃣ Statement Range
A striking range in soft gray-blue grounds the cooking wall, perfectly complementing the island painted in SW Favorite Jeans. Function meets focal point.

3️⃣ Custom Countertop Edge
The island’s Taj Mahal quartzite features a double-thick profile with a step bullnose edge — a bespoke detail that quietly elevates the whole space.

4️⃣ Glass-Front Cabinet
Perched on the countertop, this cabinet blends storage with display, giving treasured dishes a place of honor in the everyday rhythm of the kitchen.
