I haven’t posted in awhile. I have had to put Antique Reborn on hold for awhile. After years of rodeos and wrecks the damage caught up with me and started effecting my nerves. First surgery is finished and hopefully after the second one we will be back at it again!!!!

All finished with the antique wardrobe turned blanket chest! This piece is estimated to be from the 1890’s- early 1900’s. The hardware has been dated to be post 1875. The original wear and tear was preserved as much as possible and sealed to allow the finish to last another 100 plus years. The rust from the iron hardware was removed and seasoned to prevent new rust from occurring. Feet were added to bring the chest up off the floor and to bring it up to average bed height. Sealing in history. From what I can tell by the hardware of this piece is that it was made in the late 1800’s. The handles themselves could be even older than that but I’m having trouble tracking down that timeline. The screws have uniform slots in the heads so that tells me they were created after 1856 when screws became completely machine made. A mixture of nails from different time periods were used. Some were stamped iron and a few were steel stamped. From what I can find steel stamped nails did not appear until 1885.
