It is a time of transition and lots of change over here!

I will start with the small news: we are hosting our now annual tag sale THIS SATURDAY, May 30, from 10-3. We hope you will join us and take away more of our stuff!

Then the big news- we are moving- AGAIN.

It is not that I can’t sit still- I am in fact very good at a peaceful, calm sitting session. And- when your life-long dream becomes a possibility right in front of you- well? You just have to make the leap!

The back story: When I was growing up we often visited my godparents, Lee and Pup McCarty. If you don’t know them by name, look up McCarty Pottery immediately! They had the most beautiful home and COMPOUND- a creative dream of private home, public workspace, and the most beautiful gardens. As a young person I always imagined that someday I would have a ‘compound’ of my own but this vision has never found a way to fruition.

And now? I am in it! It will take some time to build- a few months for the workspace, year and years for the gardens- but I am finally making the leap and living in a place where I can blend my home and my work worlds into a seamless, creative hodgepodge of a lifestyle.

There is sadness in leaving Amherst after almost 20 years of shopkeeping- but the compound is just a little bit north on route 116 in Sunderland. I have heard the rumors that I am closing, moving out of the area…. None of which are true! For the summer the shop will be online, design classes will resume in the fall, and interior design services continue uninterrupted.

We hope you will stop by this weekend for the tag sale and a last visit in the Amherst space!

20 years ago today my then business partner, Ariana, and I opened this lovely little shop. And though at the time I imagined it would mean stepping back from my client-centered work, the shop has in fact only broadened my client base, my ability to meet and connect with people, my opportunities for growing and teaching, for which I am deeply grateful. So- today marks the start of my 20th year as a shopkeeper- and my 20th Christmas season. I am immensely proud of the work we have done over the years to bring ethically sourced housewares to people’s attention- and given the ups and downs in the world in those years I am enormously proud to still be standing and to still have ideas for the next steps! Next year we will have a proper 20th Anniversary PARTY. For now- a quiet noting of this day. ♥️
