At some point in 2019 while on mat leave with my third boy, a creative surge came over me and I started to create locally manufactured home decor items.
I sourced raw materials and contacted dozens of manufacturers on a whole variety of ideas that never came to fruition. (Bedding and storage …)
Some vendors could not wrap their heads around local manufacturing because they were focused on their own businesses(fair). I was talking about home decor with welders and carpenters 😂. A lot of doors closed before a few opened. We eventually got a few vendors that were just curious enough, just motivated enough and just crazy enough to believe in my ideas and finally I was met with a ‘we’ve never done that before but we’ll try!’
The idea was simple, start with local manufacturing so that when the volume of the work outgrows what I could do on my own I’d already have my systems in place. I had done it all in previous businesses and that lead to burnout.
Out of all the trial and error, and using my bottle money to pay for samples, my first few collections of candles, metal signs, table runners, and wood items were born.
I don’t think I’ve ever done a birthday post of HHL because it happened so gradually and I can’t recall the exact date but when counting it in my head it’s always September.
HHL has grown and matured. I’ve taken steps to update my brand but have always struggled with sharing my exact message. Home decor can make you happy, being intentional can make you happy, caring for your home intentionally can make you happy.
I’ve been working behind the scenes to catch up to the growing brand, filling wholesale orders, collaborating and planning some updates to how I communicate and share this brand with you here.
Stay tuned for fall and holiday launches of all your favorite scents, as well as a new form of story telling, if you’ve stayed this long Happy Birthday to The Happy Home Line and hopefully you’ll be along for the ride for the next 7 years!
