Don't forget to get your knives sharpened before Turkey Carving Day!

Greetings Everyone, from the Grumpy Woodworker!

As any of you following us are probably aware, we are very slowly dragging ourselves out of our COVID19 Pandemic hidey-hole.

And part of that dragging ourselves out is getting knives and tools sharpened up for use again!

So, do you need your kitchen knives sharpened? Have you been smushing your tomatoes, crushing your carrots, and tenderizing meat instead of cutting it? We are here to help!

We have some new sharpening gear that lets us work faster, cleaner, and put an even better edge on your blades then ever before, with regrinding knives to have a hollow ground edge, and beyond razor sharp.

That being said, here's our sharpening cost breakdown for those worried that it might be too expensive:

Basic touch-up: $1ea This is just dressing the blade edge to restore sharpness.
Basic Sharpen: $5ea This is taking a dull knife and hollow grinding it to restore the overall edge and sharpness.
Regrind: $10ea Removal of small chips in the blade, or slight reshaping, plus putting our ultra sharp edge on it.
Full Regrind: $15ea(with some exceptions) Reshaping the blade, taking out significant chips & dings, and of course, putting the slice back in your dice.

If you are interested in getting your knives sharpened, please don't hesitate to send us a message and schedule a drop off with us. We have a busy schedule, but we're pretty flexible about times as well, so just let us know!

Temporarily, our phone number is out of service(should be back up and running in the next few days.... Phone go Crunch.....), but you can still reach us via Messenger at any time.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Sometimes it takes a bit. It's just what happens when you're human. 😊 For example, this three legged stool for a good friend. ❤We said yes, and then the pandemic hit, and life... Lots and lots of life, all the kinds of life.😱😅

But it's finished! 😱🎉🎊
Bespoke 5/4 aged oak legs, walnut oil finish. It's what we do when life happens, we keep chipping away and one day we'll make it. Thank you Pillow for your patience. We hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

The shop is approaching it's final form, tools are stirring, and life, well... Life happens for us all, let's make it a good one. PM us if you have a project in mind.

In an effort to make painting and carving more accessible, we've opted for using 24v actuators (with a hand control) to lift the tool boom and mast, and the main carriage. After all, they do weigh near 140lbs. 😅 The boom keeps lighting, fans and tools directly overhead. Still straightening up the hardware, working on cable management, and finalizing tool/materials storage, but it is functioning like a dream! 😃 Need to get this finished up so the missus can get back to carving.

Progress was made today on the reclaimed oak carving easel. The front side is finished aside from the knee vises. The back has had the mast inlaid, and is waiting on the main riser, and jaws. Let us know if you're in the market for a custom easel, relief carvings, or any custom woodworking! 😃 More to come now that life seems to be stabilizing.❤

Made progress today on the counterweight,5/4 reclaimed oak easel. This build is the first since resetting the studio/shop. Turns out the back legs are going to be a second easel. So, mast, plate, and jaws still need to be made. As well as the 360° rotating plate jaws, knee jaws, and vertical jaws for the front. Since this is primarily a carving easel there is also the tool rest, electrical (four-gang switched), and material storage to consider. Slowly getting back on the horse. We hope you are well, and that the day brings you joy. Happy 4th of July. 😊

So I've really been wanting to do art, and have been struggling due to surgeries, and the limitations they inevitably impose. So what does The Grumpy Woodworker do for me? Well, he starts building the most beautiful 5/4, reclaimed oak, counterweight easel! 😱🥰❤ This baby can easily accommodate work over 10' in height!😱😱😱 The inner frame has invisible slides, so it can raise 24", the telescoping mast adds another 24". The jaws can accommodate work from 0-10'.He is still working on the telescoping mast, jaws, table, tool rack, and support legs. In case you can't tell, it is just leaning on the work bench behind it. 😅 Still, I couldn't help setting my current work there just to stare at it and adore his handiwork! 😱🥰❤

Anyone in the Anchorage area who wants to make sure that their pumpkins go to a goat home this year, let me know and you can come chunk them to the goats!

They love to eat squash, and it helps them put on a thicker layer of fat to get them through the winter with good fluff to be harvested in the spring =).
