Happy Friday, everyone!
Here are details about my outside-fabric cutting fee when clients choose to provide their own upholstery fabric.
I work with my specific fabric suppliers because I am familiar with their fabric quality, packaging, shipping, and customer service. This helps minimize issues with flaws, wrinkles, shipping damage, dye lots, and color consistency with the samples I provide to my clients.
When a client supplies fabric from an outside source, I cannot make the same guarantees regarding the quality, durability, color, dye lot, or other characteristics of the fabric. I will always stand behind my workmanship, but I cannot guarantee the fabric itself.
An outside-fabric cutting fee covers the additional time, responsibility, and business costs involved with customer-supplied fabric, including:
β’ Evaluating the fabric to make sure it is appropriate for the project
β’ Checking the pattern repeat, width, quantity, and construction
β’ Working with potential variations in fabrics purchased online or from outside sources
β’ Allowing for situations such as discontinued fabrics, mill closeouts, remnants, multiple pieces, or differences between listed and actual fabric specifications
Even though I cannot guarantee the quality of an outside fabric, my name is still on the finished work. I want to make sure I have done everything possible to achieve the best result with the fabric you choose.
For these reasons, the $28-per-yard* outside-fabric fee is required when a client supplies their own upholstery fabric.
Please note: I will need to see a physical sample of the fabric before I can confirm that it is suitable for your upholstery project.
*Pricing is subject to change at my discretion.
Thank you for understanding and for trusting me with your upholstery projects! β€οΈ
