Joining in that first row of the first stripey color!

All these years knitting up socks with my self striping yarn- and the first stitches of a new color are still always exciting.

After I cast on with the Turkish Cast On- I start with about 18-20 stitches, and increase to my target number- usually 60 for a sample sock, 64 for my foot, and 72 if the socks are for my (very knit-worthy) husband, I will knit 10 rounds of the heel/toe colorway before changing to the MC.

Then I join the MC, and since this is a sock sample, I knit in plain stockinette stitch to where my heel will go. No shaping, no gusset, no pattern, just plain and simple vanilla socks.

Easy peasy relaxing garden knitting. 🧶💚

Well hello there!! So many new followers- thank you all for loving my last reel!

Here’s a little garden update- I’ve appointed myself head gardener this year while my husband travels for work.

I think there’s a chance my grey thumb might turn at least yellow this year. 🤞
Lots of easy to manage flowers 🌻 that I hope might bring some hummingbirds by. A few veggies too- and bonus Ember in the kitchen window, wishing she could join me out there. 🩶

A little Sunday morning knitting asmr & backyard bird noises for you.

Starting the toe of a sock- this is my row two. I use a Turkish cast on- which wraps around both needles, as opposed to a figure eight that wraps between the needles.

In just under two weeks, I’ll be heading up to for a trunk show during the Middle of the Mitten Yarn Crawl!

Jill and I have been trying to work out a trunk show at her shop for just about forever- and it’s happening!!

This is a two day event- Friday June 19th and Saturday June 20th. I’ll be bringing all kinds of stripey goodness, and as much more as I can manage.

Put it on your calendar and come join the yarn party fun!
