Notes from Mary,
What's your why? That question as it relates to supporting the American Heart Association has multiple answers for me. Here's one of them:
I remember Resusci-Annie in a suitcase in our dining room back in the 1970s. My mom taught first aid and CPR classes, so that seemed like a normal thing.
That teaching doll and a mother who stressed being prepared for emergency situations was my introduction to the American Heart Association. While googling Resusci-Anne, I discovered she was developed in Norway around the time plastics innovator and toymaker Asmund Laerdal's two year old son almost downed. That obscure fact hit me, as founder stories often reveal surprising insight.
The American Heart Association and Laerdal have a long history. Variations of these training mannequin have been used worldwide to teach people how to perform CPR and other rescue techniques for over 60 years.
SUPPORT AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION when you shop at Found on Sunday, September 13th
Found is proud to support the life-saving efforts of the American Heart Association’s Life Is Why™ Campaign. For all items sold on September 13, 2026, Found will donate 10% of the purchase price to the American Heart Association’s Life Is Why™ Campaign.
Throughout the Day of Giving on Sept. 13th, you'll be able to chat with folks from AHA, enjoy light refreshments, get heart-healthy tips, try out hands-only CPR, and more as you shop local for a cause that matters.
A few Kerrytown neighbors are also participating. Since Sept. 13th is also Grandparents Day, Mudpuddles Toy Store will celebrate by taking photos and having kids decorate a picture frame (to give to grandparents if they'd like). Fustini's will feature heart healthy recipes, using their olive oils and vinegar. You might agree that just visiting Kerrytown can enhance well-being!
I support AHA in memory of my mom and for the future of my grandchild. I'd love to hear what inspires you.
Mark your calendars and join us,
Mary
