I was so excited to be a pattern tester for the re-release of this adorable pattern from ! Shaedyn loves being my little model, so it was the perfect excuse to finally use this print from that I stocked earlier this year. I think the bold, retro-looking print pairs perfectly with this classic, vintage style dress.

This pattern is perfect for advanced beginner to intermediate sewists - The design is simple, but interesting, with the asymmetrical front and opportunity to use cute trims on the pocket and collar. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and honestly, this dress can easily be made in a day or weekend!

If you’ve been curious about trying Children’s Corner Patterns, this is a great one to start with, as it doesn’t rely on having a pleater or smocked panel. I love that they are offering some of their classic patterns in a digital format, but if you prefer a paper pattern, they have this one as part of a collector’s pack now that comes with a bunch of other sweet goodies! 🤩 I’ll share it in my stories

Disclaimer: I’m not sponsored or paid by Children’s Corner to post this, I just love their patterns and want to share the cuteness! ❤️

As promised, here are some close-ups of the after it was washed - I did straight line quilting in a diagonal pattern on the patchwork that mimicked the angle of the chevron, and then 1" spaced straight vertical lines over the entire quilt.

I pieced the back together with larger rectangles and finished the binding by hand. The batting I used was 100% cotton and I love the way it turned out!

I used my friend's nursery as inspiration for the color story and curated the prints and solids around that. I used a premium, natural-colored muslin for the background. What do you think??

Here's the in its forever home - I love gifting baby blankets because they can become so sentimental...Everyone has THAT blanket that they would drag around with them wherever they went for their first few precious years of life...or your first bedspread that matched your nursery decor...My favorite baby blanket was a striped knitted blankie in yellow, white, and baby pink with satin trim 🥰

I've found that quilts especially make great gifts because they serve multi-purposes - My mom gave me a handmade baby quilt when my daughter was born, and it was my favorite play mat for tummy time and floor cuddles! I also used a handmade quilt from for my son that got us through many outdoor picnics and photoshoots 🤩

And there's that added bonus, if you're making the baby blanket, that it takes less time to sew and hand bind because it's cute and "small". 😜 (If I recall correctly, this one still measured about 4' x 5' after I adjusted the pattern)

Do you remember what your first baby blanket looked like?

This was the stage of the when I REALLY got excited for the finished product 🤩 (little did I know the most tedious parts were still yet to come 😅)

I would highly recommend this quilt pattern for beginner quilters…It comes together so quickly, the cutting and piecing is not intricate, and it leaves so much room to explore what kind of quilting you like/want/can manage. It’s very forgiving and fun to design the layout!

I ended up doing straight line quilting on my little domestic machine for this one, cause it’s the best I could manage…but it worked! I give mad props to anyone who can free motion quilt on a domestic machine that’s meant for regular sewing (as opposed to a long arm meant for quilting) I’ll post some close-ups of the quilting soon. 👍

Note: I did end up altering the pattern slightly to make the finished quilt smaller (crib-sized) - but I think the overall visual intent was maintained from the original size it was written for. 🥰

Hi folks! Apparently, I haven't posted here since the height of the pandemic...October 2020! 😱 I couldn't possibly catch you up on the last (almost) 3 years in a mere 2200 characters, but if I were to sum it up in 5 emojis or less, it would be: 😷🤱🏻🥰😵‍💫🫠

If you need more than emojis, head over to Katie Jacoby 🤱🏻 Baby Goods] this week to read my posts there - I'll be sharing actual words to catch everyone up on the last year, at least. 😅

Some of you may have been here since this account was Chelsea Marbles Paper...(my stationery, wrapping paper, and greeting card shop), and maybe you joined me when it changed to Chelsea Marbles Home when I started selling face masks...This account has always been one that's easier to evolve than my other shop Katie Jacoby 🤱🏻 Baby Goods] - So, now that face masks are not a thing I've had to make or sell in recent years, I'm not 100% sure where I want to take this account yet, but I know that I'm OK with keeping it as a place where I share some of my creative projects outside of my other shop. I really hope you'll stay with me on this journey...! ❤️

In the meantime, while I'm figuring stuff out, here's a snapshot of my most recent workspace addition...A very special birthday gift to me last year from - My first personally-owned industrial Juki sewing machine! 🤩🤩 She's been wonderful to sew on so far, but she needs a name, so if you have suggestions, leave them in the comments below 👇 😘
