This client came to me not for a full makeover, but simply to help gather ideas and visualize what her space could look like. I helped her nail down the concept, the details, and pulled it all together into a visual. Sometimes that’s all it takes—clarity and a plan.

She sent me the after photos today and shared this:

“I enjoy my living room sooo much more now!! So does everyone else—my kids, husband, everyone actually hangs out in the living room now. And I feel happy when I walk in the door, usually lol.”

The reality of choosing a paint color 🫣

The shop bathrooms have been so hard to figure out. Why? No natural light at all and that typical commercial lighting that makes everything tricky.

I can’t even tell you how many samples I went through 🤦🏻‍♀️. I first tried Behr Sculptor Clay—loved it in the can, but once it dried on the wall it was way darker and way grayer than I wanted (see photos 2–4). Total disappointment.

Then I grabbed a few from Sherwin-Williams: Drift of Mist, Shoji White, Accessible Beige, and Neutral Ground. The number of trips I took to the SW store 😩

The one I finally landed on? Neutral Ground. It gave me what I was looking for: off-white, warm-leaning, and not too heavy for a bathroom with tough lighting.

Next up: flooring! (My husband said this existing tile reminds him of Kwik Trip. He isn’t wrong 🤣)

Who remembers the project?

I am working on such a fun project right now! I said yes to working with this client because her design aesthetic is so bold and playful—think patterns, textures, and even color! 🎨✨

Yesterday, we had a physical sample meeting, and it was amazing to see her excitement as we worked through the design. At one point, I shared an analogy that seemed to spark a light bulb moment for her when it comes to creating balance in design.

Since she’s not afraid to mix colors, patterns, and character-filled elements, I explained how designing a room is a lot like building a professional basketball team. Every player on the team is talented—if you weren’t good, you wouldn’t have made it! But typically, there are 1-2 star players (think Kobe and Shaq 🏀), while the rest of the team supports and enhances their strengths.

Design works the same way. When you feel like you have competing elements, it’s all about choosing your “star players” and letting the rest of the design pieces play a supporting role. That way, you create both contrast and harmony—boldness where it matters and balance where it’s needed.

I can’t wait to see how this project comes together—it’s going to be full of personality!

First and foremost, my faith and family are at the heart of everything I do. They’re my greatest blessings and the foundation for how I approach life, work, and the relationships I build.

When it comes to my personal style, it’s all about mixing and matching the old with the new. I love creating spaces and experiences that feel timeless, authentic, and uniquely mine. I intentionally stay away from following too many designers or influencers so I can stay in my own lane—focused on what truly resonates with me, rather than getting caught up in trends.

That same intentionality is what I bring to my work with clients. Whether I’m helping you design a space or solve a problem, my goal is always to create something that feels like you. I believe in designing with purpose—choosing elements that matter, tell a story, and stand the test of time.

It’s a funny thing, isn’t it? Having a skill you love but also fearing it—questioning if it’s the right path, wondering if you’re good enough, or if it’s even worth pursuing.

This past year has been a quiet one for me in design. It’s been more of a year of introspection than creation. To be honest, there were moments when I thought about stepping away from this business altogether. It felt like maybe it was time to close the door on this chapter.

But here's the thing—I didn’t.

Through all the questioning, I kept coming back to the same conclusion: I do have talent in this arena, and I think I need to use it. There’s something about creating, about solving problems through design, that still sparks something in me.

I’m excited to share that I have some potential projects lined up, and this is one of them. It feels like a new beginning, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this next chapter takes me.

If you’ve ever doubted your own skills or questioned your path, just know you’re not alone. Sometimes, the quiet years teach us the most.
