Today and Mark’s 8 years that Misty Mountain Flora
Was born. Apparently, years ago today I started my account. And that was the beginning of me starting this dream. The seed was planted.
I moved up to Humboldt county nine years ago. And it was such a new place for us. A new home. A new place to raise our family in a new community.
I was 37 years old and deep in motherhood with three kids under 11 years old.
We were in the middle of remodeling our house and I just had this crazy idea that maybe just maybe I should start growing flowers and then maybe just maybe I’ll be a florist but that didn’t come for a while
For the first three years of my business, I educated myself.
I took the Erin Benzakein - Floret online Flower farming course.
I won a spot to go to the Holly Chapple “it could be you” workshop in Virginia and that changed everything.
5 years ago I had my very first wedding. This first photo is from my very first wedding. My very first bridal bouquet and my very first bride.
Today, I am working on my last wedding of the season on my fifth year of doing weddings!
It’s crazy how time tells your story.
Over these last 8 years, I never would imagine that this is where I would be today.
And I can honestly say that it’s going to get even more incredible as time goes.
I’m just barely getting started.
I am now doing Floral Preservation on top of Wedding flowers.
I work with clients from all over the country who come here for destination, weddings, and I get to be part of their story of when they came and got married in the redwoods.
There’s still so much to come and so many new changes coming that I cannot wait to share with all of you guys!
