Our clients loved their kitchen and scullery so much, they were ready to bring that same feeling to the basement.

As an extension of the Classic Charm, Reimagined project, we are transforming a once-disconnected basement into a polished and practical space for the entire family.

The existing ceiling was interrupted by multiple soffits, making the room feel visually busy. Rather than fighting them, we designed a soft green color-capped ceiling, carrying a deeper hue across the soffits and ceiling while keeping the walls light. New built-ins with a grasscloth wallpaper will welcome you at the bottom of the stairs, while a closed storage pantry will make the formerly awkward under-stair area work harder.

At the bar, beadboard, open shelving, wire-mesh cabinetry, and an island will transform an underutilized area into a true entertaining zone.
–
project: Classic Charm, Reimagined
interior design: Rosehill Design Studio | McLean, VA interior designer

AI can churn out a “perfect” room in seconds, but we know AI can’t account for the way sunlight shifts across your living room at 4 PM or why your dog refuses to nap anywhere but the hardwood floor. It can’t read the hesitation in a client’s voice when they say, “I love it, but… it doesn’t feel like me.”

Design isn’t just about visual appeal. It’s about creating environments that resonate emotionally, solve real-world problems, and adapt to the rhythms of daily life. While AI tools can generate floor plans, they miss the complexities of real-world design: balancing budget constraints with custom millwork, sourcing materials that fit a project’s timeline, or anticipating traffic flow, acoustics, and how light interacts with texture. An experienced designer doesn’t just follow a brief. We uncover needs our clients haven’t even put into words yet, then design a home around them.

If you’re ready for a design that understands you and the unique demands of your space we’d love to start a conversation with the link in our bio 🌹

Many people don’t realize how much planning and coordination goes into a renovation, or how many decisions need to be made along the way. What starts as “it just needs a little bit of work” often becomes something much more involved, which is why having the right guidance matters.

Our Classic Charm, Reimagined project is a great example of that process. The goal was to create a classic cottage feel while improving functionality and bringing a more unified design direction to the home. Behind the scenes, that meant thinking through layout, storage, lighting, materials, and how each space would function day to day.

This is the kind of work we love. Traditional charm paired with thoughtful updates so the home feels both familiar and fully livable, with every detail working together to create something that feels natural, comfortable, and built to last.

Rustic Elegance is really taking shape.

The hallway became an opportunity to do more than just pass through. With the clients’ extensive book collection in mind, it was designed as a place to pause, where books can be reached for, revisited, and enjoyed. Built-ins and a bench support that use, while color-drenched walls and soft cream and blue window treatments create a warm, cohesive backdrop that feels inviting rather than purely functional.

In the primary bedroom, the goal is to create a retreat that feels restorative after time spent outdoors. A custom four-poster bed, a quiet reading area with a chair and ottoman, and a dresser bring in rustic character while maintaining a sense of refinement. The overall effect is grounded, comfortable, and easy to settle into.
–
project: Rustic Elegance
interior design: Rosehill Design Studio | McLean, VA interior designer

From rendering to reality, our Everyday, Elevated dining room shows just how much happens between concept and install.

We began with a palette of greens and blues to create a space that feels serene and stylish. The custom built-in bench and incoming cushion now add cozy, flexible seating in a previously underutilized bay window. It’s perfect for extra seating while entertaining, and doubles as a quiet reading nook for early mornings or quiet afternoons. The custom dining table is designed to fit the room’s proportions, ensuring every gathering feels comfortable.

What starts as a visual concept becomes a fully realized space through sourcing, coordination, customization, and careful ex*****on. It is always rewarding to see the full design come together during install days.
