Those old metal floor vents commonly found in older homes don't have to stay!

One of our installation leads, Chandler recently replaced this outdated metal vent with a custom wood flush mount return air vent that blends right into the hardwood flooring. It's a small detail that makes a big difference in the overall look of a room!

A great way to give your floors a cleaner, more finished appearance without those bulky metal vents standing out.

Meet the Team Tuesday! 💙👶

This week's introduction is a little extra special!

Everyone, meet our newest (and tiniest!) Luminous Flooring team member, Jackson Chandler Lewis! 🍼

Jackson officially joined the crew at 1:06 AM, September 5th, weighing 8 lbs, 3 oz! He may be a little too young to start installing hardwood floors, but he's already got a special place on our team!

As a family-owned business, we're so excited to welcome the newest addition to the Luminous Flooring family. 💙

From carpet to beautiful hardwood floors!

For this project, we removed the existing carpet and installed unfinished 2 1/4" red oak. The floors were then sanded and finished using a mix of DuraSeal Early American, Cherry, and Golden Oak stains.

The finished floors bring so much warmth and character to the space, and the before and after pictures really show the difference!

Four days, start to finish! 👏

For this project in St. Charles, we installed new hardwood and refinished the existing floors, finishing everything with a water-based finish and no stain.

The real highlight is the custom fireplace design created by our project manager, Matt Rott! Using a combination of Walnut, Red Oak, and Clear Maple, he designed a one-of-a-kind pattern that really makes this space stand out.

All of this completed in just four days!

Something a little different with this herringbone flooring!

For this project in Webster Groves, we installed 2 1/4" red oak hardwood, including a beautiful herringbone pattern that adds so much character to the space. The floors were then sanded and finished with Medium Brown stain and a water-based finish.

The detail and craftsmanship that goes into a herringbone installation are just a couple of qualities that set us apart from our competition,

A little repair work can make a big difference!

For this project in Columbia, Illinois, we laced in new 2"x1/2" red oak to match the existing hardwood, then sanded and finished the floors with a dark stain and oil-based finish. Love how everything came together!

Here's a recent hardwood floor refinishing project we completed in Godfrey, Illinois!

We sanded and refinished 725 sq. ft. of 2¼" Red Oak hardwood flooring using Bona Antique Brown stain, giving these floors a fresh look!

A thorough refinish brought these hardwood floors back to life! This St. Louis project featured 2 1/4" White Oak, sanded and finished with Bona Golden Oak stain and a premium water-based finish for a warm, natural look that lets the grain shine through.

How long does it take to refinish hardwood floors?

Most hardwood floor refinishing projects take approximately 4–5 days, although smaller projects may be completed in as little as 3 days!

A good rule of thumb is roughly one working day for every 200 square feet, but square footage isn't the only factor. Removing and reinstalling trim, moving furniture, making repairs, choosing a stain color, and the layout of the home can all affect the schedule.

Drying time is also important! Each step of the finishing process needs adequate time to dry. Projects around 1,000 square feet or less typically take 4–5 days, while larger or more complicated projects may extend into a second week. Here are some before, during and after's.

A hardwood transformation in O’Fallon!

We sanded and refinished these 3 1/4" red oak floors, bringing them back to bare wood before applying a 50/50 mix of Jacobean and Medium Brown. We finished them with Berger Seidle Ceramic Star finish.

The new color brings out so much of the natural grain and character in the red oak while giving the entire home an updated look.
