Well, September was National Self Care Month, and I had high hopes at the start of the month, but overall I'm giving myself a 3 out of 10 for my grade of how I put into action my own self care π«©
I'm currently a disaster, and failing spectacularly at just about everything, but I'm going to keep going and looking ahead β‘οΈ
My sleep is a mess, I exist in a state of constant dehydration, my nutrition leaves a lot to be desired, my work is behind and if I was my boss I would fire myself and if I was just an employee I'd quit, I get stuck in a never ending state of stress and chaos, my environment is always cluttered, and there's a non-stop dialog in my head that tells me how bad this all is π¬
I'm giving myself a 3 out of 10... not that anyone asked for a grade... but I'm giving myself at least that because I'm continuing to try to work through this all with a therapist, and because I did do a good job of fostering some relationships and friendships this month π
Self care is "highlighted" for just one month, but luckily it's something we can continue to work on and hopefully prioritize always
The one thing I will say is that it's important that we continue to work on normalizing things like therapy and mental health, so I'll continue to be vocal about it π£
I know for me if it wasn't for therapy I'd be a bigger disaster than I am right now. You don't have to have a major problem or breakdown to start... and it doesn't have to mean digging deep into your past.
Therapy can really help navigate just regular daily stressors and can give you a partner and a blueprint to take on normal tasks.
So, as we move into October, I'm going to keep on trying to take care of myself and I hope you do, too!
Feel free to let us know any good self care tips you found, tried, or that worked for you this month π€π
