Well, y’all, I guess it’s about time I introduced myself! For those of you who already know me, you know I LOVE to talk, so I’ll try to keep this short. No promises! 😘♥️
I’m Tammy Beaty, originally from Tifton, Georgia, and the woman behind Southern BeStill.
I’m a wife, a mama, a designer, a decorator and apparently a woman who doesn’t know when to stop finding new projects, lol.
I’ve been a mama since I was a teenager, and over the years I’ve worked in law enforcement, the medical field and the school system. I’ve worn MANY hats, raised a family, worked hard and learned a whole lot about life lessons along the way.
But my love for antiques and restoration started long before Southern BeStill was ever a dream. ❤️
Growing up, I watched my Papa, who absolutely loved restoring antiques. So I guess you could say it’s in my blood! A big part of my childhood was spent going to yard sales, flea markets and Thursday and Friday night auctions with my mama and grandparents. While other little girls were probably looking forward to the weekend, I was looking forward to seeing what treasures we might find! 😂
Those memories are some of my favorites, and I never imagined that one day I’d be filling an entire venue with beautiful pieces, many of which I’ve refinished myself.
Apparently, restoring furniture wasn’t a big enough project for me, so I decided to move on to ENTIRE HISTORIC BUILDINGS! 😂
Four years ago, I lost my daddy, and that experience made me appreciate family, memories and the importance of holding on to the things that connect us to the people we love.
That’s what makes Southern BeStill so personal to me.
Throughout the venue are beautiful pieces I’ve refinished, antiques that remind me of my childhood and little touches that represent my family’s history. Almost everything has a story, and believe me, if you ask, I’ll probably tell you all about it! 😂
One of my most treasured memories was having my little brother’s wedding as the very FIRST wedding at Southern BeStill. I couldn’t have imagined a more meaningful way to begin this journey. Thank you Tristan and Taylor for being a part of Southern BeStill’s Story.
Today, I get to help other families create their own beautiful story, and I absolutely LOVE it!
If you’ve ever booked with me, you already know I don’t just book your event and disappear.
I want to hear your ideas, help with your decorations, create beautiful floral arrangements and be part of making your celebration special. By the time your event arrives, I’ll probably know half your life story and you’ll know all of mine! 😂❤️
And YES, you can text me! Morning, afternoon or evening. I might be decorating the venue, painting a wall, or chasing down another crazy idea, but I do my very best to respond within the day, if I don’t forget, lol. You may have to text me a friendly reminder.
And speaking of crazy ideas… apparently, one historic building just wasn’t enough for me! 😂
Over the past year, I’ve poured my heart, soul and probably every ounce of patience I have into bringing three historic buildings in downtown Ashburn back to life. One of those is a beautiful 1912 bank that we’re transforming into The Vault, and I cannot WAIT for everyone to see the transformation.
And it looks like my love for restoration might just run in the family! ❤️ My son Hunter has taken on a dream of his own, creating a beautiful open air courtyard venue surrounded by four historic brick walls, located right beside The Vault and directly behind Southern BeStill. Watching him bring his vision to life while I’m working on mine makes this journey even more special!
And then there’s my loving and supportive husband, Dustin and the rest of my beautiful children, Kylee, Kason and Holden who have somehow survived all my ideas, last minute changes and the famous words, “I’ve been thinking…” 😂 They’ve watched me dream, stress, celebrate, change my mind a hundred times and probably come up with a few projects they wish I’d never thought of! 😂and of course I want to thank Joseph, he is like another son to me.
I don’t know what I would do without their love and support 🤍🤍
What started as one dream has turned into a family journey, and getting to create something that my children can be proud of makes every bit of the hard work worth it. ❤️
Has it been easy? ABSOLUTELY NOT! 😂
You don’t have to come from money to have a dream. You don’t have to have everything figured out, and you certainly don’t have to have a perfect life.
Sometimes you start with what you have, work with what you can afford and figure out the next step when you get there.
That’s exactly what I’ve done, and I’m STILL figuring it out!
There have been long days, unexpected expenses, plenty of tears and moments when I’ve wondered what in the world I’ve gotten myself into. But every time I see these beautiful buildings coming back to life, I remember why I started.
My dream is about more than owning an event venue. I want to preserve our history, help bring life back into downtown Ashburn and create beautiful celebrations that everyday families can enjoy.
After years of raising children, working in different professions and experiencing life’s many ups and downs, I feel like I’ve found the next chapter of my life. One filled with family, faith, restoration and the privilege of being part of other people’s most meaningful moments.
And somewhere along the way, while bringing these forgotten places back to life, I found myself restoring a little of my own faith, too. ❤️
