When the client wants their red oak to be as light as possible it’s important to neutralize the red tones from the start. has the absolute solution with their Pinkqualizer. It’s a two component system that kills the red in the wood with one coat, and unlike their competitors doesn’t need to be washed or neutralized before coating. Now if only I could get ahold of their levelgel to make it table top flat…

Another one bites the dust! This floor was recently installed without proper acclimation (not by me!) and had gaps between each rows from drying out. So with a little saw dust magic I trowel filled the floor twice and now the gaps are just a memory.

The farmhouse floors are finally done! Coated with in a mixture sand and pearl. Got a little fancy with scraps and epoxy on the landing, it was pretty out of square so came up with something to help hide that. The end grain blocks are salvaged from a Thomas Day house in Yanceyville NC.

It might be slower to install on a 45 but it’s worth it in the end. These 7 inch wide character grade white oak boards require a little longer to fully acclimate then the normal 2 1/4 and must be installed with the glue assist method ( sausages). The subfloor is treated with a rollable v***r retarder (hence the awesome color) that allows for direct glue to the subfloor without compromising.
