Coordinating two busy calendars is basically a warm-up round for the whole project.

Consultation: This is us listening before we ever start deciding anything.

Concept Design: We’re not picking fabric yet — we’re figuring out how you actually want to feel in this room.

Design Phase: Every selection gets chosen on purpose. That’s exactly why we don’t rush it.

Implementation: The least glamorous phase, and the reason everything else holds up later.

Installation: You leave for a few days. You come back to a home that finally feels like yours. Worth every week it took to get here.

Step inside the Canopy House study: a room built to work as hard as you do, and look this good doing it.

We layered wallpaper with real presence, chairs upholstered for prepping for tomorrow’s meetings or helping study for a Spelling test and local art that grounds the room in its place. It’s the kind of space that makes remote work feel less like a compromise and turns homework into something almost enviable.

Organic modern isn’t where I usually live creatively, but this project pulled me in. With those vaulted ceilings, black steel windows, and all that architectural drama, this home could have easily felt cold and sterile. My clients wanted the opposite: a space their kids could grow up in, spill snacks on, and pile onto every single day.

So we leaned into warmth wherever we could. Soft grays, natural wood tones, and textures you actually want to touch. That sculptural chandelier gives the room its moment, but the furniture below is deep, relaxed, and built for real life.

I loved stepping outside my usual lane for this one. Proof that a house can feel architecturally striking and still feel like home.

Before a single piece of furniture gets picked, we sit down — usually more than once — and go through fabric, finishes, tile, paint, texture. Real samples, real reactions, no overthinking it.

This is concept design. It’s where I find out what you actually love (not what you think you should love), where you and your partner get on the same page, and where your home starts becoming unmistakably yours instead of a copy of something you saw online.

It looks like a mess on a kitchen table. It’s actually a very important step in the whole process.

Once a year, I make the drive to High Point, North Carolina, just a couple hours from here, for market week. It’s trade only.

This is where I source what you won’t find at a retail showroom: construction quality you can actually feel, finishes before they’re trending everywhere, and vendors who make the pieces that hold up. It’s also where I find the unexpected, the exclusive line, the new maker, the detail nobody else’s living room has yet.

When you hire a designer, you’re not just paying for taste. You’re paying for a door that opens to rooms like this one.

The discovery call is where I learn your budget range, your timeline, and how your family actually uses the space day to day. Not just how you want it to look, but how you live in it. That’s the part people skip when they try to do this alone, and it’s the part that shapes everything after it.

By the end of this conversation, I already have a sense of direction before a single fabric gets pulled.

Introducing The Grove House.

A friend (Lauren Fortuna) caught a few sneak peeks in our stories and immediately demanded an all access pass to the transformation. Fair warning, friend: this one is going to be worth the wait.

Built in 1894 in Asheville’s historic Grove Park neighborhood, this home has charm to spare. Our job isn’t to reinvent it, it’s to uncover what’s already there. Layers of paint are coming off to reveal original details, soft new colors are going on, and beautiful wallpaper and lighting are stepping in to bring it all together. Asheville Traditional design, at its most personal.

They say when one door closes, another opens. 🚪 This time, it turned into an office!

When our clients downsized to a charming 1930s Asheville home, their formal front door barely got used. As adopted Southerners, their real entrance was the front porch, where they love inviting neighbors to sit and stay awhile. So we closed off the unused door, added a casement window in its place, and turned the unused foyer into a light filled home office they use every single day.

No addition. No demolition. Just a designer’s eye for how a home is actually lived in, not just how it was originally built.

That is the difference planning makes, and it is exactly why you hire a designer instead of guessing your way through a renovation.

Can one material really bridge two design styles? In this A-frame, the answer was yes.

Our clients loved mid-century architecture but wanted their home to feel traditional and collected, not stark. White rock became the unlock: grounding the kitchen as a backsplash, then rising 3 stories as a stairwell statement wall. Same material, doing two completely different jobs, both times perfectly.

This is the kind of tension we love working through: not picking a side, but finding the one choice that lets both styles win.
