Each year I grow to love gladiolus more! Some people call these long and lush flowers old fashioned, and other people say they remind them of funerals, but all those people are missing out on these large and long lasting stunners. If you’re reading this on Saturday, you can find glads (as we call them affectionately) at Asheville City Market from 9 am til noon — while supplies last! Or come see us at 250 Haywood Road. Straight bunches of glads are also on our website.
We grow these beauties in dense rows, planted like eggs in a carton. This configuration creates a full look. Sometimes we see people plant gladiolus one by one in the garden, but I’m here to say, do big clumps! They are so beautiful and under appreciated.
