A month since Helene, and even the places and people that lost the least have a long road ahead. Please, for the love of this community, spend your money with the businesses that are still able to operate - even from afar. It’s true that we’re not ready for tourists, but there won’t be anything worth touring on the other side if we don’t support our entrepreneurial community now.

If you haven’t checked your email, and you bought a preorder candle, here’s your update that they’re underway. I’m about half way through making the preorders and then they’ll cure for 2 weeks before going in the mail.

Because I’ve got that down to a fairly tight system, I’ve also now reopened the preorder and will make and ship any new purchases in the order they are placed.

Thanks so much for helping me ease the transition in life after Ware. ♥️

But effects of Hurricane Helene have impacted all of us in Western NC and beyond in immeasurable ways. As such, the duo of creatives and at our Elk Mountain Road studios is looking for two new tenants to join our space as we say a somber goodbye to our dear friends .avl and who need to make alternate operating plans.

Ideally, the studio space would go to tenant(s) interested in utilizing the space for a quiet, peaceful co-working outlet. We offer some back room storage space as well if you have products or items that need to be kept close by.

Please inquire with any one of us currently utilizing the space with questions as we hope to find someone to join our “studio family” soon.

10 days out from the dev estate on that Hurricane Helene wrought on our communities, there are as many ways to send support to Western North Carolina (WNC) as there are people affected.

Yesterday alone, in my own neighborhood, I was able to give 5-gallon buckets of water to a woman who needed to bath the 9 people in her care and several flats of drinking water for a man caring for 3 children. This is the reality for any person who leaves their home in WNC right now. Everyone can do something for their neighbor and most people who can are doing just that. There are governments, international non-profits, small community organizations, and individuals all filling crucial roles in the recovery of our home. And this work will be necessary for months to come.

Organizations that are doing crucial work on the ground and can put your money to good use:

If you are watching from afar and would prefer to put that money in the hands of someone you trust, and if I am that someone you trust, you may send me money to apply to these efforts on the ground. This money could go to anything from helping a neighborhood get a cistern of water for flushing toilets and bathing to buying flashlights for the folks in apartments that still don’t have power.

The needs around us change every day. We’re all doing our best to fill our neighbors’ cup. Literally and figuratively.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who turned out for the pop-up and bought all of the candles I had on hand. Your reactions upon experiencing the candle in person really helped keep me excited about this project. I don’t know what the future of Ware’s candle line is, but I’m immensely grateful for the support y’all have shown so far. If you didn’t make it and still want a candle, preorders are open through September 16th. Jump on it!

In addition to helping me make good use of the raw materials I had accumulated, your purchases help make it possible for me to cover the ongoing administrative expenses of suspending Ware’s main retail operations while I figure out what the next step looks like for the business - and for myself, frankly.

This pic is from January of this year, when I was still in the early stages of testing materials and processes. I’m glad to say I’m still enjoying the the hands-on nature of this project.

Hey retailers, I am currently accepting wholesale orders, but I can only feasibly take on a couple more. Reach out, if you’re interested in getting these candles before holidays sales start rolling in.

You know I’m picky. That’s basically the entire premise of this business.

My frustrations with the candle industry lead me to spend six months developing first a scent and then a candle to carry it. I’ll admit, I went in a bit cocky - thinking I could throw some essential oils in wax and call it a job well done. Alas, that’s not how it went down.

There was tweaking. And testing. And soooo much research. More tweaking and testing. Some serious frustration. And then an exasperated sigh of relief when my dream candle was finally born. There’s a reason so few businesses are dabbling in essential oil scented candles. It’s complex and it’s expensive as hell. But when it’s done right, it’s a damn fine candle.

This is Ware’s debut candle. Possibly its first and last, but that kind of depends on if y’all love it as much as I do. Organic essential oils of lavender, cedar, bergamot, and vetiver will fill your home with cozy warmth and a giddy brightness all at once. It’s earthy. It’s floral. It’s citrusy.

As I attempt to hack this alone, I’m launching the candle as a preorder. This allows me to make candles and get them out the door, rather than having to figure out where I can store them while I wait for sales. If you pop over to wareavl.com (link in bio), you’ll have an easy time finding the online listing and placing your first order. The pre-order window will close the evening of September 12th!

LOCALS! I have a VERY small number of finished candles and even some that were part of the learning curve (but still smell good and burn long) that I will be selling on a first come first served basis this Sunday, the 8th. Other folks at this pop-up will be So come out and support! And get a whiff of this labor of love.

CASHWRAP: $225

Dimensions: 35.5” W x 11” D x 60” H

This simple bookshelf checks all the boxes on its own, but could easily be sanded and painted. It has some water stains from the flooding of Ware 1.0 (iykyk), but is otherwise perfect in its rustic charm.

In order to purchase this piece, DM me your email address and you will have 30 min to pay the invoice. After that, if not paid, it will go back up for sale. I gotta move the goods!

PICKUP ONLY (by end of day Monday) $375 (for pair, not selling indiv.)

Chrome and vinyl arm chairs. My best educated guess is that these are from the 1930’s. They’re super comfy and the vinyl is practically indestructible. The chrome legs are show subtle signs of tarnish (last image), but they are overall in wonderful condition.

Dimensions: 19.5” D x 24” W x 29” H each

In order to purchase these pieces, DM me your email address and you will have 30 min to pay the invoice. After that, if not paid, it will go back up for sale. I gotta move the goods!
