Waiting for what they say will be a BIG snow in WNC... hoping to quilt the last two customer quilts of the season.
The first is going on now... hoping that the forecast is off the mark, that we keep power, and that everyone stays safe!

Florence made her way through the mountains of WNC over the weekend. In our little corner, we only had a little wind and rain. We were prepared for a LOT of rain and wind and power outages... so I prepped a couple of bindings to work on if and when the power went out... thankfully, we didn’t lose power, but I used the rainy days to finish binding this beauty...
It isn’t often that I get to work on commission with fabrics of my choosing... this one has been so so much fun!

Everything Old is New Again...

As the years pass, it seems that my “to-do” list gets longer and the crossed out items are fewer and fewer. Is it that I’m more tired than years before, or that I’m rusty because I’m not pulling enough hours in front of the machine?
I can honestly say, that I entered into 2018 with good intentions... but find myself on the 13th day of the New Year with not much to show for that intent.

The quilt pictured is my first finish for 2018... and it made me nostalgic and happy to see it come to life. It is a vintage top that belongs to the friend of a dear dear friend of mine. They entrusted me to make this very delicate piece of history into something that they could use and treasure. It isn’t perfect, it was hand cut and pieced, so it’s a little wonky... it has some stains on it and there were a couple of seams that had to be repaired ... but in my eyes, it’s one of the most perfect representations of what I love about quilters and quilting. It’s about thinking forward and hoping that someone loves the pieces that you’ve pieced long after you’ve gone... and for the recipient... knowing that your mother/brother/sister/aunt/grandmother is wrapping you with their love and stitches even when they can’t wrap you in their arms.

So here’s to 2018... May you complete many works of your heart! May your bobbin last just long enough to get to the end of the seam! And may all of your days be filled with love enough to weather the storms!

To all of you...
2016 has been a hard year for me creatively. I had surgery at the end of 2015 and have since struggled to be engaged and inspired by projects and product. I love fabric and quilting and am blessed to know so many of you and to follow so many talented people (on Facebook and Instagram) who have knocked it out of the park in 2016. I keep hoping that some of their mojo will come to me.
In 2017, I hope each of us is granted inspiration and time to sew... extra money to stuff our stash, smooth thread from our bobbins, sharp rotary blades, and an idle seamripper!
