Oushak rugs, originating from the historic town of Uşak, Turkey, are celebrated for their larger-scale patterns, luminous wool, and relaxed, supple weave. They are highly favored in interior design for bringing an airy, sophisticated, and gracefully aged aesthetic to modern and traditional spaces.

Distinctive Characteristics of Oushak Rugs:

Color Palette: Distinguished by soft, muted, and sun-washed tones rather than vibrant, jewel-toned dyes. Common colors include ivory, sand, saffron, dusty rose, cinnamon, soft blue, and celadon green.

Design & Motifs: Rather than densely packed Persian patterns, Oushaks feature open, spacious designs. They are known for large-scale, angular floral patterns, central medallions, and all-over star motifs.

Material & Luster: Traditionally hand-knotted from high-quality, high-altitude sheep wool, Oushak wool has a notably high lanolin content. This natural wax gives the rugs a soft, silky texture and a distinct, luminous “glow” that shifts in changing light.
