Vintage holiday candy never looked (or tasted) so good 🎄✨
Try this 1950’s Martha Washington Candy recipe for festive, creamy, retro holiday treats 🍬💖
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
4 cups powdered sugar
14 ounces sweetened shredded coconut
10 ounces maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
3 cups pecans, chopped
6 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 tablespoons shortening
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, beat together softened butter, vanilla, and sweetened condensed milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Add the powdered sugar and beat until combined.
Mix in the coconut, cherries, and pecans. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to firm up the mixture.
Line two large sheet pans with parchment paper.
Use a 1½ tablespoon scoop or a melon baller to form balls from the chilled mixture. You can roll the balls in the palms of your hands to make more even, uniform balls from the mixture.
Place the formed balls onto parchment paper and place the sheet pans back into the refrigerator.
Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a large, microwave-safe bowl. You can also divide the chocolate chips and shortening in half and work on dipping one half of the candies at a time.
Heat chocolate in 30-second increments, stirring between each until chips are mostly melted.
Stop heating and continue stirring until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
Use a fork to dip and roll each candy ball in the melted chocolate. Lift from the chocolate, tap to remove excess chocolate, and place back on the sheet of paper to set.
Continue dipping and setting all of the balls. Dipped candies can be placed back into the refrigerator to set more quickly.

¼ cup powdered sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup heavy whipping cream (cold)
For the Strawberry Crunch Coating:
15 Golden Oreo cookies (or vanilla sandwich cookies)
3 tablespoons strawberry gelatin powder (Jell-O)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Optional Toppings:
Fresh strawberry halves
White chocolate drizzle
Crushed freeze-dried strawberries for extra flavor
🧁 Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Strawberry Crunch
Add Golden Oreos (with cream filling) to a food processor and pulse until crushed into crumbs.
Add strawberry gelatin powder and melted butter, then pulse again until fully combined.
Spread mixture on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes to set (optional but enhances flavor).
Let it cool completely, then crumble into fine, crunchy bits.
Step 2: Make the Cheesecake Filling
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks using an electric mixer.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the cheesecake mixture until smooth and creamy.
Step 3: Shape the Bites
Scoop about 1 tablespoon of cheesecake filling and roll into balls using clean hands or a small scoop.
Place on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 30–45 minutes, until firm enough to handle.
Step 4: Coat in Strawberry Crunch
Roll each chilled cheesecake ball in the strawberry crunch mixture, pressing lightly so the crumbs stick.
Place the coated bites back on the tray.
Chill for another 15 minutes to set.
Step 5: Decorate & Serve
Drizzle with melted white chocolate and top with a slice of fresh strawberry if desired.
Serve chilled for the perfect creamy, crunchy bite!
✨ Tips
For a stronger strawberry flavor, add 1 tablespoon of freeze-dried strawberry powder to the coating.
Keep refrigerated until serving; these are best eaten cold.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze up to 1 month.
🍓 Variations
Chocolate Strawberry Bites: Dip in melted dark or white chocolate before rolling in the crumble.
Mini Cheesecake Cups: Layer crumble, filling, and crumble again in small cups for a dessert shooter version.

🎅🍬 Soft Christmas Peppermints (Old-Fashioned Butter Mints) 🍬🎅

Ingredients

½ cup butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
¼ tsp peppermint extract (adjust to taste)
Red gel food coloring (for the classic red and white twist)

Instructions
Step 1: Beat the Butter
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy. This creates the creamy base for your mints. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer for the best texture.
Mix in the Remaining Ingredients
Gradually add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and peppermint extract. Continue mixing until a firm, smooth dough forms.
Divide and Add Color
Divide the dough into two portions. Leave ¾ of it white, and tint the remaining ¼ with red gel food coloring. Gently knead the red portion until the color is evenly mixed.
Roll and Twist
Roll each color into thin ropes. Place one red and one white rope side by side and twist them together to create the signature peppermint swirl. Pinch off small sections to form bite-sized mints.
Dry and Set
Arrange the twisted mints on a parchment-lined tray and let them air dry for 1–2 hours. Cut into small pieces, then allow them to dry completely for 24 hours before serving for the perfect soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
