I love how different this medium-sized stacker is depending on what side is facing you. This is the richness and variation that wood-fired pottery gives you, and makes all the extra work worth it. This pot and hundreds more are packed up and ready for me to set up tomorrow at the Paradise City Arts festival. NOTE: The show is Friday-Sunday this year, not Saturday-Monday as it has been.

I’ve been spending a few days sanding and grinding and looking at all the new pots that I’m packing up tomorrow to bring to the Paradise City Arts festival this Friday-Sunday. The cool spot in the kiln was a little bit bigger than I expected, but there are some really beautiful pots here. This one jumped out at me immediately. It’s very hard to get the proportions of a top handled teapot correct, but I feel like this is pretty close and the balance when you pick it up feels amazing. Looking forward to sharing all the new pots this weekend and at the 50th Annual PMA Craft Show November 6th-8th.

Well, what about that? We had the easiest firing we’ve had in a while in the middle of a Nor’easter! Seeing as we changed about four things at once, I’m not sure what made the difference, but I’ll take it! Hopefully it wasn’t the rain and gusting wind because I’d be happy not to repeat that anytime soon. 😂 Fingers crossed for some fabulous results to share with you during the Paradise City Arts festival and the 50th Annual PMA Craft Show. Well, I’ve completely failed to post this making cycle, but here we are! We loaded the kiln in the blowing rain today, but luckily it wasn’t as bad as forecasted. I contemplated delaying the firing, but we are forging ahead tomorrow so hopefully the weather will continue to be more mild than expected. The kiln shed has flooded before, and we have had flames of a few feet getting blown out of the stoke doors, so if it is bad, we at least have some experience. 😂 I’m excited to share the new pots at the Paradise City Arts festival and the Phila Museum of Art Craft Show. I changed the way I load the kiln hoping it will help it get to temperature more smoothly than the last few firings. Anyone want to guess what’s different? Big shoutout to e s for helping make this all happen.

There is a fascinating botanical experiment going on in my studio. I can’t believe how fast this kiwi grows! I know I need to prune it, but honestly, it’s sort of like living in a fairy tale and I don’t have the heart yet. Trying to crank in the studio for the next firing!

We had a fabulous time during the Hilltown 6 Pottery Tour last weekend. The weather was glorious, my demonstrations were attended by curious and wonderful people, and the general sense of discovery and enthusiasm was infectious. What a great way to celebrate our 20th anniversary!

After taking a bit of time to put the studio back in order, and take a much needed breath, I have taken pictures and updated my website with all the fabulous new work that is still available.
