This is the part of having livestock we don't like to talk about. Sometimes you create a bond with 1 or 2 of your animals more than the others. We have a small herd so I am able to bond with all of my goats and know them very well. Dolly was the first goat we got when we moved to the farm. We had no idea what we were getting into with her but we learned together. She was a baby when we got her and we are all she knew. She was the herd queen, the matriarch, the OG and she took her job as leader very seriously!
She unexpectedly passed away yesterday morning with no explanation. I found her unable to stand and knew something was wrong. We got her to the vet where she had a seizure and passed. It was quick. I hope she knew I was with her and holding her as long as I could. I hope she knew how much she was loved. Rest in peace sweet Dolly! The farm is different today.
