After 27 incredible years, I’ve decided to retire and begin closing Bitter Creek Candle Supply, Inc.
It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m so thankful for your support, loyalty, and the many connections made over the years. I’ve truly appreciated the chance to be a part of your creative process.

How To Make Corn Cob Sachets
Corn Cob Sachets are a very popular craft trend, and a great accessory item to sell along with your candles! They can be used as air fresheners in cars, closets, drawers, luggage, vacuum cleaners, offices, near kitty litter boxes, works great with peppermint oil to keep mice away etc! They make great stocking stuffers and are a great addition to gift baskets! Put them in a sunny window for an even stronger fragrance release!
You Will Need:
• Crushed Corn Cob
• Fragrance Oil
• Glass Jar w/ Lid (for mixing)
• Muslin or Organza Bags
Directions:
1. Put 2 cups corn cobs into jar and add 1 oz fragrance. This ratio is just a good starting point and can be adjusted according to your desired strength.
2. Cover the jar and shake it often for a couple of days to allow the corn cob to absorb the oil and to give the fragrance time to cure.
3. Then add the mixture to your muslin bags.
Tips:
• You can add designs, logos, and pictures to your bags with Avery iron on T-shirt transfers #3275 & a color ink jet printer! Customize your product for your customers! Great for businesses who need a giveaway item with their company logo, perfect for wedding reception favors, graduations, baby showers, etc.!
• You can also sell refresher oils along with the sachets so your customers can refresh the bags when they start losing their scent.
• The oils in the sachets will eat through certain types of plastic, so be sure to package them in a plastic bag that can withstand fragrance oils!
• If you know how to sew, you can make your own sachet bags out of some cute homespun material for a real country primitive look! Or try holiday theme material with Christmas designs, etc.
Cautions:
• Do not set these sachets on wood surfaces as the oils can stain the wood!
• Do not set them on painted surfaces or plastic surfaces as the oils can damage these surfaces
• Do not use in a tart warmer or potpourri burner as the beads can melt!
• Keep out of the reach of children and pets!
• To refresh your sachet, simply add a few drops of refresher oil to the filling in the sachet.

In the 1990's Bitter Creek founder, Rich Hansen became interested in the hobby of candle making. In his search for supplies, he quickly realized the selection was limited and the prices were high, the industry clearly needed supplier that had both a quality selection and great prices. It was then that he began investing in bulk supplies to save money and sold to other candle makers what he did not need to save them money as well.
Rich launched a small website in 1998 and what began as a part-time side business grew rapidly. More and more candle makers became aware of his selection of high quality yet low priced supplies and interest grew rapidly. Bitter Creek Candle Supply quickly became a full time business!
Because of a lot of hard work and dedication, Bitter Creek has become one of the largest candle suppliers online today! Growing from only a few part time employees to a full time dedicated staff. In July of 1999, the company moved to its current location in Ashland, Wisconsin. Bitter Creek quickly outgrew its original warehouse, and over the next several years expanded to over 37,000 square feet! The expansions included areas for our picking, packing & re-packaging departments, and moving & remodeling our fragrance department to make room for our ever-growing line. The most recent addition to our facility is a pair of state of the art fragrance testing booths built in 2015. Our front office currently houses a showroom with many of our products on display as well as a sample sniffing station with all of our fragrances!
Bitter Creek purchased Sissie's Candle Supply in Texas in 2003. In 2005, Wick Your Wax in Canada, and in 2006, the purchase of Bubbles n' Lights in Iowa was completed. Bitter Creek proudly represents each company's fragrance lines to this day.
