Renderings and before photos of a current job in NW DC.
This existing “Master Suite Wing”, as designated on the original 1930 blueprints, consists of a dressing room and small bathroom off of the primary bedroom. While this ensuite concept was an uncommon luxury in the 1930s, it is not as luxurious by today’s standards.
Maintaining three existing window locations and the entry door from the bedroom, I have reconfigured the space to enlarge the bathroom while preserving some dedicated closet space. The new bathroom will include a large shower, double vanity, and a linen storage built-in. There will be a walk-thru dressing area connecting the bedroom and bathroom.
This home was designed in the Colonial Revival style by a renown DC architect of the day, Arthur B. Heaton. The current owners want to honor their home’s almost-100-year history, with classic mosaic tile flooring and tile wainscoted walls, while still introducing current yet timeless elements.
