My mom used to say, “ If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Anyone who knows me knows I like to tell it as it is. Yes, there is always, always something to be grateful for, but some days it’s just harder to find.
The high heat and then cool, damp weather has seedlings stunted or just not thriving as they should. I’ve replanted one row three times, thrown out many dead plants and replaced, and the slugs are relentless. Early mornings and late nights are spent removing them. I’ve lost a lot of dahlias to rot. I am definitely not alone. In fact, I’ve met some great new people going through the same issues throughout the country.
I have managed to do a couple great events with what I have, and got some great new jobs for flowers this summer.
I’m not here to look for sympathy, but just to show the real, gritty truth. Growing and selling flowers is not all dancing through the posies.
(An image I won’t ever recreate💃)
I know the great summer weather we enjoy on the coast of the PNW will be coming, but if you happen to know Mother Nature, could you remind her to take her meds. She’s stressing me out😂
