Good Wednesday morning! We have hit the midpoint of the week and something about that always says we're going to make it! Today ,we are at Gathered Goods Mercantile and I want to share our third item that makes an excellent gift. We've been talking about vintage items to have on your radar as you are out shopping. Monday was dishes. Tuesday was silver or silver plated serving pieces and cutlery. Today, I want to suggest vintage books. They are classic, sentimental, beautiful stacked on a table or tucked into a styled vignette. Visit Gathered Goods today and flip through these great cookbooks that were just brought in yesterday. I have my personal copy of Frank Stitt's " Southern Table." Frank has a culinary empire in Birmingham, AL with his famous Highlands Grill, Bottega's, and Chez Fonfon. This is a unique blend of cookbook, background narrative,and kitchen tips. Consider this and all of the vintage books for sale today in " Through the Garden " at Gathered Goods Mercantile located at 22335 Highway 72East,Suite B. We're at Frank's today and working on our 2nd day of ideas for starting a tradition of giving vintage home decor gifts. Every Southern Lady loves silver serving pieces or cutlery. Tie them up with a beautiful linen ribbon or tuck them into a small pouch for a simple, elegant presentation. The silver-plated tray pictured below is in our gallery. The backstamp tells us it was manufactured by James W.Tufts in Boston ,likely between 1875-1915. The "Warrented Quadruple Plate" mark indicates the piece received four times the standard thickness of silver plating which was a sign of high quality for the era. Similar antique pieces by Mr.Tufts commonly feature elaborate Victorian or Aesthetic movement designs. This great piece would be at home in any room ! ($40.00).
