Two bottles worth knowing. 🍷

We’ve been reaching for these Weninger reds lately—and Courtney, owner of Athens Cooks, just called the 2018 ‘Steiner’ her new favorite. Both are Blaufränkisch, but show it differently. The ‘Kirchholz,’ from old vines on stony, gravel-rich soil, brings more depth and structure. The ‘Steiner,’ grown in Sopron, is a bit more lifted—bright acidity with notes of dark berries and a subtle, spicy finish.

Meet the newest addition to The Thrasher-Nelson household: Prince Moonpie! He was abandoned, rescued off Prince Ave in front of our store with several fractures and a dislocated femur. We have rehabilitated him back to a health weight, and he’s a much happier little boy! 🥲

“Uncorked & Untamed” with our resident wine expert, Taylor Cotton, is all about Loire Valley wines that are worth knowing—approachable, a little unexpected, and genuinely fun to explore.

Along with the wines, we’ll be serving a few thoughtful pairings—Mt. Tam from Cowgirl Creamery, Drunken Goat, Parmigiano Reggiano, bresaola, and Duck prosciutto—selected to bring out the wines’ acidity, texture, and depth in different ways.
