Sometimes God brings you full circle. 🤎
More than 25 years ago, when I entered the world of floral design, I quickly realized there were not many established florists of color that I could see, connect with or learn from.
A pivotal encounter early in my career stayed with me and ultimately led me to create MFIN — Minority Florists in Network.
Even then, I had a desire to create connection and community for floral professionals of color.
Life happened. Business happened. Motherhood happened. And although I never lost the vision, over the years I often wondered when or if I would return to my original WHY.
What I’ve come to understand is that my timing was never God’s timing.
More than 25 years later, He has brought me full circle and refueled my passion for why I continue in this industry.
Today, I have the experience, the relationships, the lessons, the failures, the successes and, most importantly, a clearer understanding of the purpose behind the vision.
And from that purpose comes the Atlanta Association of Black Floral Designers — ABFD.
ABFD was created to connect, educate and elevate Black floral designers throughout Atlanta and surrounding communities, while cultivating a space centered on excellence, professional development, collaboration, resources and opportunity.
This feels bigger than simply starting an organization.
For me, it feels like returning to something I was called to do more than 25 years ago—only now, I’m ready for it.
I’m excited to see what God does with the vision this time. 🤎
