I would say I attended “the school of hard knocks” to learn how to decorate my home.

I am a multigenerational Coal Miner‘s daughter. Times were often lean, and we had to stretch the dollars we had. We did not thrift because it was trendy, we thrifted out of necessity.

But over time, it absolutely became a game to see what we could find for less, and the challenge to style my home on a budget.

Thrifting takes patience, and I always maintain a bucket list for items I would like to find secondhand.

I absolutely love my home, it is unique, it is full of personality, warmth, charm and character and it is…. Beautiful.

Everything that I have acquired to style my home is from the skills I learned as an impoverished coal Miner’s daughter attending the school of hard knocks in thrift stores❤️

Does this Resonate with you, this reel found you for a reason. Follow for more.

Personality>trends

I am definitely all about supporting curating our homes with originality and character instead of fomo.

And I do find that it is a rush of dopamine, to style an area and look in on it and see how beautiful it turned out.

What is your favorite area to style in your home?

Sunday Stills.

Sharing closeups of the tablescape I created using Johnson Bros Old Britain Castles dishes and fresh sunflowers.

One of my favorite things about this ironstone pattern, is that because it remained in production through 2015, there are newer pieces to be found and those are the ones that we choose to dine upon, although my favorite pieces to style are the square sandwich plates. We do not eat on those.

My other favorite pieces from Old Britain Castles are the Christmas plates. And sometimes those will still turn up at stores like HomeGoods during the Christmas season, and at Replacements, LTD. I have eight of the salad plates with the Christmas tree.

It is still very much Summer here, but indoors all kinds of things autumn are happening. I’m excited to share all of it with you.

I hope you are having a peaceful Sunday.❤️🍁🏡

Why is dusting controversial?

The most comfortable homes I have been in were all “intentionally cluttered”.

What does that mean? It means that evidence of living was not hidden. Books lay open on chairs, blankets were crocheted from a family member, sentimental items were in view and the home owners personality lay in evidence by what they collected artfully displayed on shelves, in curios and on table surfaces.

And how cozy is that? Call it backlash against minimalism, or perhaps home is being treated like the respite from a heavy world where perfection takes a backseat to comfort.

They say “cluttercore” is trending. Authenticity is trending. Traditional is making a comeback. Trends I can follow. ❤️

So can you. Stick around for more.
