Progress on Christmas 2026 in my dining room.

The real star is the Benjamin Moore French Horn paint. I chose this paint color in March, to add a little bit of drama into what was previously lifeless green space. I don’t think I imagined how beautifully it would compliment a traditional Christmas.

My tree was gifted from King of Christmas® and is the unlit Royal Fir Slim. Normally the tree in the dining room gets the cast off and leftovers from the living room tree. This year I gave it a special treatment.

I’m not used to decorating a tree from scratch and purchasing all new things, I don’t think I have shopped for a tree theme in 10 or more years, referring to pull out all of my vintage favorites that I have collected since I married my husband.

I have to say I enjoyed the process. I think my favorite is the red velvet carousel horses from Hobby lobby, and the beautiful plaid ribbon from Amazon. But those viral gold teddy bears from Walmart really were amazing, I purchased them before realizing everybody had FOMO for those. So I guess I’m not entirely immune to trends, either.🎄

When your Halloween plans look like this…

A quiet evening at home, watching the Hallmark Channel, and decorating for Christmas. 🎄

Christmas is my very favorite holiday, and we don’t celebrate Halloween.

I am an early decorator, as you can see my dining room is already finished. It’s not that I’m rushing this season, it’s that I want my favorite season to last even longer.

You don’t need approval to decorate early for Christmas.

It’s the sense of comfort we search for all year wrapped up in twinkle lights and tartan ribbon…

It’s the longing for a time when the world felt slower, more sparkly and being surrounded by everyone we love to celebrate those who created magic for us in our own childhoods and hopefully capture some of those simple moments of childlike joy as adults while creating some of our own.

The coziest season. I am grateful to be able to share it with you.

I am an early decorator for Christmas and have been decorating for the past two weeks, I am always about sharing cozy traditional interiors and celebrating the everyday small moments that make our homes special along the way.

Our homes were built to last.

When I say I have a traditional and timeless home, it means many of the pieces I surround myself with have been around for decades.

Because well made furniture does not go out of style.

Good furniture transitions between eras and finishes easily, creating a traditional focal point that grounds the room and design.

There is no trend pushing me to replace things that now are shipped in boxes with instructions on how to assemble it. I do not have FOMO.

I source my furniture from facebook marketplace, estate sales and antique shops. The coffee table is Sherrill and I purchased it new after a ten month layaway circa 1998 for my first apartment.

What kind of artist are you?

My fondest memories from my Appalachian childhood are the warm family Christmas gatherings centered around my West Virginia maw maw’s table in her quaint cottage.

Her table was filled with warm food and talk was plentiful. The clatter of dishes and the happy chatter of loved ones are the song of a good table, and there was always plenty of room for more.

I started modeling her tablescapes in early childhood where my dolls and pets were guests, and now in adulthood create and share similar tablescapes inspired by my grandmother and my sentimental attachment to nurturing those I love at table.

Christmas is my favorite time of year to share tablescapes, my heart is nostalgic for the tables I grew up loving, and recreating holiday magic for my family warms my sentimental Christmas soul.

A few close-ups of a tablescape I created for autumn, using Royal Doulton Old Country Roses.

Today I worked on decorating the King of Christmas tree I am using in our dining room. If you would like to see my theme, you can get a sneak peek in stories.

I shared in Friday’s tablescape reel, that my mother had gifted me this China pattern. We discovered it together watching the television series murder she wrote with Angela Lansbury. We saw her take tea from an old country roses teacup, and both went to research what the pattern was.

It’s a comforting connection to my mother, and a relationship that was very challenging. However, we could always connect with one another over recipes, cozy mysteries, and pretty dishes. I am grateful for this. ❤️

I just watched what might be my favorite episode ever of Father Brown. I told my husband that we would watch it together when he gets home this evening. I love the ability to revisit good memories, and rewatch good television, and reread good books. Don’t you?

It is OK to romanticize your home, and your life. You only get one. Do what you need to do to thrive.❤️

Sharing some warm views of my home.

It is getting dark earlier which means turning on the lamps and lighting the candles. I have been enjoying an extra cup of coffee while the morning temps are cooler, but by afternoon it feels like summer again.

Today we are going to shopping for kitchen flooring! I am in a hurry to get this done which is how I unfortunately am with all home reno projects. Our kitchen is a high traffic area and while I was content to suffer with the ugly tiles while they were useful, they recently started flipping up at the refrigerator and so now I can indulge in new floors for, ahem, practical reasons. 😜

I am decorating the dining room for Christmas! Will share sneak peeks for Sunday Stills! 🌲
