Back in her Oprah days, Iyanla Vanzant was something else. In the late ’90s, when I was deep into adulting, I craved her realness. I leaned into those soul‑hitting truths about generational patterns, self‑sabotage, and tough love. And then one day… she was cancelled

But Iyanla is back on TV. She’s returned to the Oprah Winfrey Network with “Iyanla: The Inside Fix.” blackenterprise.com reports the show premiered January 17, 2026, on OWN. Somehow, I missed the memo, but I am dialed in now: it airs every Saturday at 8 PM in a prime spot with new specials in production, which means it has got to be good.

The head trip that could have stopped a star from shining.
During auditions for The Cosby Show, another potential actress announced that Lisa Bonet would never get the role — all because Bonet had braces.
Bonet hadn’t even considered it an issue until that moment. “I mean… should I just go home now?” she wondered.
She stayed. And the rest became Huxtable history, reports Brent Furdyk for NickiSwift.com.

Walt “Clyde” Frazier was the smooth, unshakeable floor general of the Knicks’ golden era, a defensive genius and style icon whose leadership helped carry New York to both of its NBA championships alongside the brilliant Earl “The Pearl” Monroe. Their greatness is reflected in every page of Knicks history.

Today, we celebrate living legends Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe, while honoring the memory of the incomparable Willis Reed, who passed on March 21, 2023, but remains forever at the heart of New York basketball.

Remarkably, this rare magazine was published 15 months after the Knicks won their first championship in 1970 and 9 months before they captured their second title in 1973. Just holding this magazine in our hands has got to be the mojo that will bring the trophy back home this year.

Robert Peabo Bryson embraced collaboration. To us, it always felt like he loved the conversation inside a song, the way two perspectives could braid together and tell a fuller truth.

And then there’s that voice, warm, controlled, generous. Peabo had a rare gift: he could wrap his tone around a partner’s voice without ever overshadowing them. That balance, that respect, I think, is why he became the go‑to voice for duet albums long before the industry realized how powerful that format could be.

Over the course of a remarkable career, he won two Grammy Awards — in 1992 for “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion, and in 1993 for “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle. Mr. Bryson passed away on June 2 at the age of 75.

Bill and I send our condolences to his family.

On National Bike Day, we honor Billie Joe Becoat, a brilliant Black inventor whose
In the early 1990s, Becoat patented a groundbreaking dual‑wheel‑drive bicycle system that used a flexible drive shaft to power both wheels. His design improved traction, stability, and control on rough terrain, the first visionary step forward in 70 years of bike engineering.

P.S. Becoat recorded an album titled Reflections from a Cracked Mirror, which was released in 1969 on Fantasy Records and reviewed in Billboard. The Album is considered a collector’s item today.

When "Little Man" hit the theaters in 2006, Marlon and Shawn Wayans were using cutting-edge technology. Marlon’s face was digitally mapped onto the bodies of two actors, a process so advanced it took months of motion‑capture and compositing to perfect.

The story itself was inspired by a 1950s Bugs Bunny cartoon. The movie was directed by their brother Keenen Ivory Wayans, keeping the family’s creative rhythm alive.

The movie pulled in over $100 million worldwide. The audiences loved the Wayans brand of fearless comedy, a legacy they’re bringing right back to the big screen in Scary Movie 6, due out June 12, 2026, and is being described as "a rebooquel" that picks up 26 years after the original film (ew.com).

Be there or stay home, but don't go upstairs....

A penny for your thoughts? Across his long tenure, Clarence Thomas has rarely supported initiatives aimed at helping middle- to lower‑income families. Supporters sometimes point to a few narrow criminal‑justice rulings or his limits‑on‑government philosophy, but his record tells a different story: he has spent decades weakening the very ladders of opportunity that made him millions.
