Today’s Petals of Kindness arrangement is headed to a very deserving recipient, nominated by a friend who wanted her to know just how loved and admired she is.

In her nomination, she was described as courageous, resilient, and remarkably positive through a journey that would challenge anyone. Reading those words was a reminder of the strength that exists in ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances.

The flowers are beautiful, but it’s the nominations that stay with me. They are filled with stories of friendship, love, and people showing up for one another when it matters most.

Thank you to everyone who continues to trust us with these nominations. It is a privilege to help deliver a little kindness on your behalf. 🩷🌸

Meet the flower world’s version of a disco ball.

One giant bloom. Hundreds of tiny flowers. Endless design possibilities.

These giant ornamental alliums stand nearly three feet tall, making them every bit as dramatic as they are whimsical. From a distance, they look like perfect purple spheres. Up close, they’re made of hundreds of tiny star-shaped blooms working together to create something extraordinary.

When I ordered them, I had two thoughts:

1. These are ridiculously expensive.
2. I absolutely need to see what they can do.

Now the challenge isn’t figuring out if I’ll use them…it’s figuring out all the ways I can use them. Modern arrangements, garden-style designs, whimsical centerpieces, maybe even a few designs that break all the rules.🩷

The peony…if you judge it too early, you’ll completely miss what it’s capable of.

When peonies arrive, they often look like tight little marshmallows. Not particularly impressive or worth the hype.

And then…they open. And open. And open some more.

One bloom can grow to the size of a dinner plate, revealing layer upon layer of ruffled petals that were hidden inside all along.

It’s one of the reasons florists love them so much. Every day they’re a little different than they were the day before.

A few peony facts you may not know:

🌸 A peony plant can live for 100 years or more.

🌸 Ants don’t help peonies bloom (a common myth). They’re simply attracted to the sweet nectar on the buds.

🌸 The “marshmallow stage” is actually the perfect time to buy them if you want the longest vase life.

🌸 Peonies have one of the shortest growing seasons in the flower world. (Hence the high demand and high price tag)

🌸 They’re also one of the few flowers that can make even the most sensible person say, “Wait…how much for ONE stem?” 😅

And yet…every spring, they sell out…proving that sometimes the most extraordinary things start out looking pretty ordinary. 🌸🩷

Most people think roses are roses. They’re not.

When florists talk about garden roses, we’re talking about a completely different experience.

Unlike traditional roses, garden roses open dramatically over several days, revealing layers upon layers of petals. Some varieties can have more than 100 petals on a single bloom.

One of my favorites is the Keira Rose. No two Keira roses open exactly the same way. Some lean more blush pink. Others show off creamy ivory centers. Each bloom ends up with its own unique character.

Keira is one of my favorite garden roses for weddings and special events because she photographs beautifully. 🩷🌸

Today feels bigger than backyard cookouts and long weekends.

Memorial Day is for the ones who never made it home. The empty seats at tables. The folded flags. The families who carry both pride and grief at the same time.

We’re thinking of the sacrifice behind the freedom we so easily move through every day.
