Sometimes construction reveals an unexpected opportunity.

While building this home cinema, we discovered unused space behind the wall. After discussing it with the client and construction manager, we decided to put that space to use — turning one of the decorative wall panels into a hidden door.

Good design is also about recognizing opportunities as a project takes shape.

🎬 Throwback Thursday

Back in 2005, we completed this dedicated home cinema featuring the Runco CL-710. At the time, Runco was one of the most respected names in high-end home cinema.

With an MSRP of around $10,000, this 720p DLP projector represented the pinnacle of luxury home cinema. Long before 4K, laser projection, and streaming, this was the dream setup for movie enthusiasts.

If you swipe through the photos, you’ll also spot an AMX touchscreen—another icon of that era. It gave homeowners complete control of the theater, from the projector and screen to the lighting and audio, all from a single touch panel.

Today, Runco is part of AV history, and AMX has largely shifted its focus away from residential projects. Looking back reminds us just how much the custom AV industry has evolved over the past two decades.

We’re proud to have been building immersive home theaters then—and we’re just as passionate about creating them today.
