The first day of fall always makes me want to make the house a little cozier—naturally, the bedroom is where I want to start 🤎🍂

A few cozy bedroom favorites from over the years. Which one would you claim for fall?

Meet Cozy in Decatur 🤍

This project is proof that a home doesn’t have to be enormous (or have an enormous budget) to be thoughtfully designed. For this young family, the goal was to make every square foot work harder. We gave the front room a purpose, opened up the heart of the home, found clever ways to integrate storage, and added the spaces they needed to make this house work for them long term.

And then, of course, we layered in the good stuff: warm cabinetry, dark stone, woven textures, a little tiger wallpaper, and plenty of details that give the home its personality.

I’m excited to finally share this one in its entirety. Swipe through for a look ✨

Would I design an all-white kitchen? Let’s just say, I have thoughts…

Please excuse the snoring. Piper had some strong opinions to contribute 🐶😴

In between her commentary, I’m sharing a few thoughts on what makes a home timeless, what luxury really means, and why custom design is about so much more than finishes. Enjoy!

What’s the most impactful investment you can make in a custom home?

My answer might surprise you. Hint: it’s something you’ll appreciate every single day, even if you don’t consciously notice it.

The long weekend agenda: slow mornings and outdoor living.

A look back at the Morningside project—a masterclass in balancing crisp architectural structure with lush, enveloping greenery. The perfect backdrop for the start of the season.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and relaxing Memorial Day.

One of the biggest misconceptions about interior design is that it’s just a series of small decisions.

That couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, it’s hundreds (sometimes thousands) of decisions—layout, details, materials, scale—all made in relation to one another and built over time.

It can’t be pieced together (or it can, but you won’t get the same result). Every choice impacts the next, and the home only works when everything is considered together, in sequence.

By the time you see the final result, everything has been connected, refined, and brought into alignment. The Morningside project, a ground-up custom home build, is a great example. This home feels (and looks) right because it followed a tried and true design process.

Hello, jewel tones 😍

While this project was just a bedroom, it’s still one of my favorite transformations. The home was already beautifully built, but the bedroom didn’t quite reflect my clients. We started with a dusty pink bed and the softest blue and white rug they already loved, then layered in a deeper palette—rich blues, a pinky-purple moment, and grounding tones like terracotta and brown.

And of course… the dramatic ombré wallpaper. It brought everything together in a way that made the space feel warm, personal, and complete.

Violet Marsh Interiors is in Maine, again 🤍

What started as a simple refresh of a guest house has grown into something a bit more layered with renovated bathrooms, a new lower-level guest room, and updated furnishings, lighting, and finishes throughout.

Swipe for a few of the selections we’re bringing together for this coastal retreat. Install is happening in June—more to come soon ✨
