A little bold green for this downtown Augusta ground up development!

For this shower, we chose a vertical stacked tile installation. The clean, straight lines create a contemporary look while also allowing for a more efficient installation — an important consideration when working with developers and investors, where time directly affects the bottom line.

The deep green was a deliberate choice. With the property located near the Medical District, Augusta University, and the popular Trellis Coffee Bar, we wanted a design that would appeal to a younger audience and give the home a little personality.

Whether the property becomes an investment rental or a first home for a young professional, the goal was to create something attractive, practical, and memorable without unnecessarily increasing renovation costs.

Planning a kitchen renovation? Let's talk about clearances.

One of the most important things to consider when designing a kitchen is how much space you actually need to move around and use your appliances comfortably.

It's not just about fitting cabinets, appliances, and an island into the available space. It's about making sure you can open your refrigerator, unload your dishwasher, use your oven, and still have enough room for someone else to move around.

I've put together this simple clearance guide to help you understand some of the dimensions we consider when planning a functional kitchen.

And here's something I always encourage homeowners to think about: kitchens and bathrooms are two areas where even a few inches can make a significant difference.

A layout might look great on paper, but if the measurements aren't carefully considered, you could end up with appliances that interfere with each other, drawers that can't open properly, or circulation space that simply doesn't work.

Correcting those mistakes after installation can be expensive.

This is why I always recommend working with a qualified design professional when planning a kitchen or bathroom renovation. There are many technical details that aren't necessarily obvious until you start using the space.

This is an AI designed kitchen, and as a professional I have spotted at least 5 major issues.

Planning a kitchen requires great care and if not done correctly it will lead to costly mistakes.

It’s important that when dealing with kitchen and bathroom remodel you hire a professional.
AI is absolutely fantastic for ideas in a high-level color selection, but it cannot substitute the knowledge of someone who has done remodeling for years.

A kitchen renovation doesn’t always have to mean changing everything.

For this project, the homeowner already loved her color palette and the farmhouse character of her kitchen. So rather than changing what she liked, we focused on what wasn’t working.

The biggest improvement was how we used the space.

We removed two separate pantries and consolidated the storage into one centralized pantry, creating a more practical layout.

We also eliminated the raised bar and replaced it with one continuous countertop. This opened up the sightlines across the kitchen and created a larger, more usable surface.

Of course, the homeowner had a wish list too!

She wanted a beautiful statement hood, a pot filler, and decorative tile behind the stove. We incorporated all three while giving the kitchen a more refined look.

We combined clean, contemporary details with more traditional elements, particularly in the faucets, pot filler, and cabinet hardware, to preserve that classic farmhouse character without making the space feel dated.

The result is a kitchen that still feels like her home, just more functional, more cohesive, and a little more elegant.

This Grovetown, Georgia laundry room is also part of the family’s everyday path through the house, so the layout needed to work much harder.

More storage. A folding area. A drop zone. A place to sit. And better use of the space they already had.

This is the design process before demolition begins.
