We chatted at the Beatrix Potter Edwardian Fair & Peter Rabbit Tea about next Spring's theme- one of my mother's absolute favorites: Tasha Tudor.
Also I will be presenting a more in depth look at Beatrix Potter in the English Tent at Tea Festival Portland on June 27th at 10:30

Here in Vermont, the 2025-2026 winter recalls winters of years past; endless drifts of snow blanketing the landscape, obscuring walking paths, coating tree branches, and delivering hungry wild birds, squirrels, and even porcupines to our doorstep.
Tasha's 1948 illustration above shows her New Hampshire home in such a winter. How she loved a good wintry winter. "To me, it's joyous. I welcome the snow and winter in spite of frozen buckets and the constant hauling of wood for the fire. I especially love it when the storm comes quietly during the night and I wake up to a changed world. I can tell instantly. The light in my bedroom is so different when there's snow outside."
With every new storm, the canvas is refreshed. "After it's snowed, you watch for tracks. I found some of the most minute mouse tracks this morning, like little necklaces in the snow."
Spring will arrive in due course, but for now, we enjoy what's before us.
