Pen Turning friends! Every year our son Chris Mathiasen participates with a group of fathers called Moustaches 4 Kids. The father's do many crazy antics to raise funds for children in need. Chris' donations are primarily used in the Omaha Nebraska area, however the organization is nationwide. Chris has endured many embarrassing challenges over the years, from painted nails, allowing the kids to shave him (a favorite of my granddaughter), braids, leg waxing, ice bucket dumps and more!! The pen turning community stepped up big time and covered the required donations to get his legs waxed alone! This year there is a special challenge to get donations from the most states in the country. Let's help the kids and Chris win that challenge!
Here is Chris' plea:
"Reigning Nastiest Stache here! M4K is back and better than ever. Year 6 has some charities I am very excited to be growing for. This year we are sponsoring Angels Among US as our main charity. This is huge. Last time we supported these guys, we completely wiped out their wait list, forever. Now they are back and looking to support families with kids with cancer even more and for a longer term.
We also are supporting Heart Heroes with their work with kids with congenital heart defects and Sleep in Heavenly Peace deliver beds to kids that have nowhere to sleep.
Why should I donate? Where does the money go? Glad you Asked.
$1,000 raised will send a kid with a heart defect to a safe summer camp for 10 days.
$2,500 will supply 10 kids with beds to sleep on instead of the floor.
$8,500 will support 10 families with their financial needs while they focus on what is really important, helping their child through treatments.
The money you guys have donated to me every year has made a real difference in our community, and I cannot thank you enough. Here's to a new year."
