Thoughts and insights after 1 year of doing pop up markets:
- Consistency is key (I’ve only skipped one or two markets, except for those that were rained out). You are your advertising. Now almost every market I meet someone who got some candles from me before.
- My favorite thing is meeting people, customers, and other vendors, and staying connected to the local community.
- I think one of my biggest mistakes was leaving my part-time job too early, essentially stealing money from myself and my business. Even though I hated my restaurant job, I’m still grateful for it. Going into credit card debt seemed better than staying there any longer.
- My best month this year was June, and I got the most online orders in July, even though it’s a slow summer month. I want to say a big thank you for all the support.
- I feel super scared about August because there are so many 100+ degree days, and I don’t have my best markets scheduled because of the heat. I really can’t wait until mid-September for the weather to cool down.
- I got an order for candle refills from my very first customer at my very first market a few days ago, and it just melts my heart.
- I’m so happy to hear that most of my customers love most of my scents, and it’s amazing to have six bestsellers out of twelve scents.
