This hallway used to feel long and pretty empty, even with all the natural light.

We kept the original Saltillo tile since it runs through the whole downstairs and we loved the patina and texture of it.

We added sheers so the light stays soft instead of harsh, then an antique rug and bench brought in most of the warmth. We found these vintage balloon molds antiquing and bought without knowing where they’d land. They add just the right amount of interest and sculptural detail.

Main corridors shouldn’t be an afterthought, and this one isn’t.

Hi!! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything personal but I wanted to introduce myself to any new faces here— I’m Courtney, founder of CHU Interiors.

I started CHU Interiors in 2019, and we do full-service renovations and furnishings for clients locally, in Austin, plus a handful of long-distance projects.

Mixing old and new is a big part of our foundation, and something we really lean into naturally. A project needs character, that mix of something with history next to something newer and more polished. That’s what makes a space feel layered and livable instead of just “designed.”

Interiors are so powerful, my mood and energy have always been affected by the space around me. When you walk into a room you can feel it instantly, it changes your energy. I love that my work is about creating that feeling for other people, homes that feel warm, comfortable, functional, and like a real reflection of who my clients are.

Before and after at our Tanglewood project. Our clients wanted their new primary suite to feel warm, layered, and moody. By embracing the lower ceilings and wrapping the room in an earthy gray plaster finish, we created a cozy & intimate retreat. A vintage rug set the tone, with rich textures and collected pieces adding depth and warmth throughout
