🕉️ A GOD IN BRONZE ✨

Standing nearly 39 inches tall, this commanding Khmer-style bronze Shiva brings monumental presence and ancient-inspired artistry to Socrates’ Gallery.

Cast in dark bronze with an aged, weathered patina, the figure is dressed in a traditional pleated sampot, secured at the waist with an ornate belt. A tall tiered headdress crowns the serene figure, while a small ritual vessel and prayer beads reinforce the sculpture’s devotional character.

Inspired by the rich artistic traditions of Khmer Cambodia, the sculpture combines spiritual symbolism with an extraordinary sense of presence and craftsmanship.

At nearly four feet tall, this is more than a decorative object—it’s a statement sculpture made to command a room.

✨ SMALL OBJECTS. BIG STORIES. 🗿

Discover a fascinating world of netsuke and miniature antiques inside Socrates’ Gallery at Roadrunner Relics.

Netsuke are traditional Japanese miniature sculptures, historically used as functional toggles to secure small pouches to the sash (obi) of a kimono. Over time, they became highly refined works of art—celebrated for intricate carving, expressive characters, animals, folklore, mythology, and everyday life captured in remarkably small forms.

Our collection of miniature treasures explores the broader tradition of East Asian carving and small-scale sculpture, where ivory-colored materials, wood, horn, stone, and other natural materials were transformed into intricate works meant to be held, studied, and admired.

🔍 Look closely. The smallest details often tell the biggest stories.

Perfect for collectors, curious explorers, and anyone captivated by the artistry of miniature objects. ✨

🌋 SCULPTURAL POTTERY. VOLCANIC TEXTURE. 🖤

A striking vintage ceramic pedestal with the unmistakable drama of mid-century Brutalist design.

Its columnar form is wrapped in a deeply cratered, blistered, multi-tone glaze—creating a wonderfully volcanic surface that feels almost geological. The heavy texture and sculptural silhouette recall the celebrated “Fat Lava” aesthetic of the era, while the piece reflects the distinctive character of Canadian regional pottery.

Part functional pedestal, part ceramic sculpture—this is the kind of statement piece that transforms a plant, object, or empty corner into an instant design moment. 🌋✨

A small world of devotion, symbolism, and carved beauty. ✨

This vintage Quan Yin pendant centers on a round nephrite jade disc, framed by decorative metal bands and an intricate openwork setting. At its heart, a relief of Guanyin—the Bodhisattva of mercy, compassion, and protection—rests in meditation upon a lotus throne, surrounded by a radiant halo.

Delicate filigree butterflies frame the figure on either side, adding layers of meaning associated with transformation, long life, and joy. The sculptural metalwork, detailed bail, and possible reverse-side motif make this more than jewelry—it is a miniature work of wearable art.

Serene, symbolic, and richly detailed, this piece carries the quiet presence of an object meant to be treasured.
