Award-winning Austin-based design firm creating luxury interiors that tell stories of comfort and belonging.

Since 2017, we've specialized in residential and boutique commercial spaces throughout Texas and California. Formerly Christine Turknett Interiors, Breathe Design Studio provides premium interior decorating and curatorial styling services to help you create stunning and functional homes that reflect your taste and lifestyle. My goal is always to help you tailor your "house" into your home where you can relax in your ideal setting. My process draws from the cerebral yet intuitive aspects of personal style and interior design. I love the juxtaposition of clean lines, cozy details, and calming colors. Underneath all of this is also my attraction to simplicity. In some ways, I feel like I didn't choose design but instead, design chose me - and this innate passion motivates me to go above and beyond for every client. Let our design studio help you create the editorial space that you always imagined and more.

Living the suite life should feel like an everyday retreat. We designed this wet room with soft mint tiles and natural light to bring the quiet of a spa home.

We believe small outdoor spaces should never feel like an afterthought. Pairing graphic cement tiles with warm wood creates an intentional, cohesive corner that invites you to step outside.

We ran custom built-ins along the entire first floor wall to tie the living room and kitchen together. Warm wood, turquoise panels, and open shelving give the family both function and a reason to look up.

Rather than cloning one style, we let distinct patterns speak to each other across the layout. Geometric rugs, abstract art, and textured prints build a visual narrative of unexpected personality.

Clean doesn’t have to feel cold. A little warmth goes a long way in making a space you actually want to be in.

Our client wanted to feel the warmth of their second home in St. Barths every morning when making their first cup of coffee.

A gem in SF’s Marina District ✨

When I tour a home, I’m looking at the light, the proportions, and how each space feels to move through.

Here, the warm oak, sculptural furnishings, and graphic artwork caught my eye. The fireplace’s vertical wood detailing brings rhythm to the living room, while layered textures soften the space. It’s a beautiful starting point for a home that feels personal and considered.

Thank you, Kathy Chan of Parc Bay Real Estate, for welcoming me in for a closer look. For property details or a private showing, connect with Kathy at Kathy Chan

The Designer's Eye | Los Angeles 🌿

Some spaces are about function. Others are about feeling.

An afternoon spent wandering Serpentine Los Angeles reminded me that inspiration isn't confined to the studio. It's in the way light filters through a wall of trailing greenery, the layered textures of terra cotta and stone, and the quiet moments that make you stop.

These are a few moments that stayed with me. The kind of inspiration that has a way of finding its way back into the work.

The Designer's Eye is a collection of places, details, and moments that continue to shape how I think about design.

Every room in this house was designed around the same zen feeling, inspired by Aman Kyoto after our client named it his favorite hotel group. We didn't realize until a year in that the hotel's exterior had been on our vision board all along.

Every room begins as a conversation captured on a board: fabric swatches, floor plans, images that whisper rather than shout. For this project, that conversation centered on a bold question. What if the quiet bedrooms and hallway could lead somewhere unexpected? The answer lives in the bathroom, where a saturated teal vanity meets geometric terracotta tile in a pairing that feels both surprising and inevitable. Glossy hexagons catch the light while matte cement tiles hold it close, arched black mirrors and warm brass grounding the whole composition. It's proof that the best design decisions are made long before the paint goes on the wall.
