I worked on decorating the house for Christmas all weekend... ππ
I know it's early for some, and I used to be in the "respect Thanksgiving" camp, but now that our schedules are so insanely busy, and I spend much of my time the week before and after thanksgiving decorating other homes for the holidays, I have come over to the "Christmas in November" camp π€·π»ββοΈππ». I must say, I love it!!!! I don't think 4 weeks of Christmas decor is enough! π
I wanted to share a few decorating tips for those of you looking for some inspiration. I run into so many people that feel overwhelmed when they go to shop for decorations and ornaments (and I totally get it - even I get overwhelmed in some of those stores!).
When decorating a tree, I always suggest that you look for an inspiration photo on Instagram, Pinterest or just google images. Look at your home for ideas of where to start (colors, textures).
My Christmas decor is a mix of metallics, wood texture, fur and greenery, because that's how my home is decorated. You can either work with your decor or add something completely unexpected. There's no right way to decorate for the holidays!
For 2019, I'm definitely seeing trees trend to a more simple look (think less ribbon and more strings of beads). It's always a good idea to start with some large pieces (I'm loving star π shapes this year), add strings of beads, poms (or ribbon), then large, medium and small ornaments. Finish by adding sprigs of greenery, berries or florals to fill in any holes.
Or be crazy like me... I didn't use ornament this year at all! π± I bought a flocked tree, added lights and am now going to pretend that I'm in a Colorado forest. ππ See, there really is no right or wrong. It's just whatever you like!!!
Another new trend I'm loving, is hanging your mantle garland off-center. I tried it after seeing a few examples on Instagram, and I cannot believe how fun and modern it looks. ππ»
Feel free to comment below with any holiday decorating questions. I'm attaching a few pictures of my home and some other inspiration pics.
Happy decorating!!
